Bosun11 537
Good thred Chartpolski I think you may be right and Deerhound crosses are making a bit of a comeback, not before time either! There's always gonna be a place in this fair Isle for this cross, it's good to know that the folk who 'champion' them are looking to 'working' standards. Some of the best working lurchers I've ever seen in the field are of Deerhound decent, long may it continue..... Quote Link to post

chartpolski 23,151
I saw this pic of an Australian Staghound a good while ago, and thought "I've got to have one of those"!! Importing one wasn't practical, so I went for a 1st X Deer/Grey. The pup I've got has the stamp of this dog about it, I think ! Cheers. Edited April 12, 2010 by chartpolski Quote Link to post
Flamin'Nora! 50
that dog has some set of feet on it Quote Link to post
Meerihunter 7
They great dogs with temperaments second to none. My first Lurcher was a first cross, which I got when he was around 3. He was excellent on bitting vermin but unfortunately he had very poor feet and turned like a barge although this was probably in part due is poor feet and tendancy to go flat at everything. This was the end of him as he killed him self doing his job simply because he was too fast and lack agility hit something very unforgiving. I don't know why a group does put some money together and import some well tested stock from the US. It would do no end of good for deerhounds here. Quote Link to post
