SHOTGUNSNIPER 47
Nice beast! That's one of my regrets, that you can't bow hunt in the uk! As a matter of interest, what's the blacked out bit about? Had the year set wrong on the camera had it set for 2006. Did not want to cause confusion so I blacked it out.... Yes bowhunting is an excellent way to hunt in the rural settings that are so common in the UK. We have hunt areas where the land owners feed the wild life - Deer , Elk , Wild Pigs and Turkey. Their properties are right up against the hunting areas and it is forbidden to use firearms within 1/4 mile of these properties. We are permited to use archery equipment right up to the property lines. The deer are grain fed, fat and accustomed to humans. Some of the land owners get peed off because they like to think they own the deer as pets , we can only legally shoot bucks so the does and fawns thrive until they grow horns.... Why is it such an impossible notion to legalize Archery hunting in the UK? Is it a hold over law because of Robin Hood poaching the Kings deer? Archery seasons for deer would increase hunting opportunities and revenue through Permit/license fees and an entire new industry and market for archery equipment sales. Woudln't it be great to have a Archery Hunting Shope there if they legalized it in the UK! Most of the archery Shops here in the USA provide indoor shooting lanes for short range practice. They have competative leagues and indoor tournaments for Hunting style and Target style shooters.Great sport and vary safe compared to firearms.... Great sport Thanks for the reply.SGS Quote Link to post

J Darcy 5,871
Great Photo. I too wish nwe could hunt with a bow in the UK, but there are far too many div's that would spoil it. Years ago i was chatting to the Late James Douglas and he was in talks with a view to getting the sport of bowhunting legalised in the uk. The problems we face are the chavs shooting swans with crossbows on their local canal. Sadly we all get bunched together. Thanks for sharing the pic...what broadheads were you using by the way? It only takes a tiny minority of idiots to spoil something for the rest of the population here... Quote Link to post

I used a mechanical broadhead on that elk I usually use fixed blade heads on large game. The mechanical heads can fail to open and thats why I prefer the fixed blade's I cant remember the model name of it the manufacture sent me a package of them to try thats why I was experimenting...It cut a 4 inch hole through bull and he died quickly. It could have been a Terminator Head --- but the fixed blades I use are Rocky Mountain 100grain...Been using them for years.... So I take it that you can still buy/own archery equipment in the UK...? Yes it is all in how it is presented to the public eye..... Who are the chavs? The hunters here participate in things like blood drive's as a group and then get a friendly press release about it. Also programs to feed the poor with processed venison and donated food - food drives. Don't let them bunch you together ---- stand apart -----In a good light even if you have to shine your own light.... I bet the famous Uncle Ted would be more than willing to make a showing on behalf of the UK hunters. Uncle Ted is Ted Nugent, rock star, bow hunter, 2nd amendment activist in case you don't know. I know there is centuries of oppression and it is tough to mentally get out from under it. It just seems as though you blokes have accepted defeat and or are so fearful of the authorities that no one wants to speak out......Man it sounds tuff over there - I truly wish I could help out in some way - maybe I could come over for a visit with a few pals and do some wet work off a list... If you retire enough of the anti b*****ds they will shut the feck up and go away..... Can you hunt with spears http://i1021.photobucket.com/albums/af340/sgshunter/HPIM1193.jpgLOL Quote Link to post
