Dog with suspected broken toe

Recommended Posts

Hi

My jack russel terrier cross has just broken her toe I think. She ran out the door, saw a cat, landed badly and screamed and stood still moaning. I carried her back in, she's limping and she can't walk on it. Its the back right leg, second toe I think. When I go to that toe she pushes my hand and it feels, well, broken.

So I was just wondering what to do. She's lying down now. I won't be able to take her to a vet for a few hours, but I'm just wondering whether it's even worth taking her if the vet is just gonna tell me something like 'Yeah its broken, let her rest' and charge me a fortune and maybe give her a painkiller. Can't afford that kind of carry on.

Any experienced dog injury people here that could give me some advice if there's anything I can do for her? If she actually needs a vet I will take her.

Thanks
