well its a long story so bear with me!

about 5 months ago we were refered to a christian help group called 'christians against poverty',they help people sort their budgeting out and make arrangements with creditors on your behalf, you send a cheque to CAP and they divvy it out to the creditors, well allong with this service you are guilted into attending the comunity church, well actually the wife was. they are born again christians ,i thaught they were nutters but harmless. anyhow CAP offered our family a free holiday as a reward for doing well paying our debts, and and a chance to just relax and enjoy some time in a different surrounding,it was to be at the Ammerdown center near Radstock near bath.

well once there we were made welcome by their team of 'perma grins' and shown our rooms etc, then there was to be a ice breaker chat and advice on house rules etc.anyhow before we knew it they were preaching big time, well as you know i have a very good bible knowledge and so when the talker said that jesus said he was god i noticed a lie streight away! and it was to be come a regular thing, we were told that we didnt have to attend the lectures/informal chats but it couldnt possibly hurt and afterall they were feeding us etc.

so first evening the kids were all taken off to do activities 'to give us parents a break' and another so called informal chat was started in another room and it was to be about forgiveness,so i thaught i would go and see what they had to say,the 'leader' of the group stressed that it was an informal chat about the subject, yet she has pre written notes on the informal not planned chat! here they started the hard sell, reducing to tears several people about past abuse and the like,i of course could quote scripture better than them and dispite their attempts to prove otherwise i was scriptually right and they didnt like it one bit.several of us left the group to chat outside with a cuppa and a fag for those that so chose,i was able to show those that could see the set up was wrong from the bible that what these people were doing wasnt christian at-all.and our chats out in the patio drew a crowd of folk who realised what i was telling them was right ,we chatted till the early hours, chatting and generally enjoying each others company.

the next day after breakfast was a coach tripto longleat safari park, all paid by them, most of us got away and did our own thing for the day and the kids were enjoying it,but then we had to go back to the hostel.... See more

No one was able to get phone signal, there was no internet access allowed and the one phone was out oforder,we were a few miles from any shops etc,we were all trapped and a good few commented it was very cult'ish. in the evening there was more of the same talks, however there was a large crowd of us that didnt attend, much to the consternation of the born agains. we constantly had minders, when one went in another appeared, however they stayed back from the group i was in . during their meeting more women came out n floods of tears ,it was a case of destroy these poor folk and then offer them salvation,ie to be born again.

more lies were told more folk upset, and so this went on ,and they would come to me to share their experiences and ask if these so called christians were telling the truth.

I showed them all matt 8v 21-23 wher jesus warned of these types doing all manner in his name falsly.it struck a chord with many in attendance and only made me a target for their preaching which i successfully rebuffed each and every time.

i saw many bad things but the worst was the forced conversion of a 13 year old girl who was physically cornered and held by 2 of them as the leader prayed on them and laid on hands. this child did not want this . it was sickening, her mother whohad just that day been 'born again ' had given permission for them to force this on her,i was helpless and unable to help. those of us that had rejected their words were shunned and they werent sitting with us at meal time which they had been, right propr snubbed.

today was the last day ,so i letem have it with both barrels, told them that satan appears as an angel of light and that was them,i listed their evils infront of the crowd, most supporting me. to get home we were going to have to rely on lifts by them and i wasnt going to allow them access to my family a minute more,so i insisted on a taxi being called, and i mean insisted. it cost us £50.00 to get home and it was money well spent. my wife has said she has cut all ties with them, and will never attend their church again and our finances will be dealt with by US ! they were /are making a fortune out of the debts of the masses, making deals with banks to half the debts and still get their clients to pay the full amount.this was a close call with another cult, when i was leaving so many families thanked us for showing them that this bunch of so called christians were not what they were pretending to be .we made many real friends and i hope that soon we can meet up again minus the looney 'born again christians'!

all i can say to all that read this is be so carefull about help that seems so innocent, truly, there is no such thing as a free dinner!

Justin that was a very good read ..... i have been on the bones of my arse more than once so i identify with why you & the wife contacted these people .... but i think the CAB would be able to offer you some good advice on budgeting etc

Its good that your bible knowledge came in handy .....didnt you find it a bit patronising when the incorrect stuff was being quoted ... i would have done & reacted exactly the same

They allways target people who are in some kind of difficulty, a bit like these debt management companies. A brother of some people we knew was a Johovas witness and used to make a point of visiting people in hospital obviously targeting people at their weakest.

I'll bet they were part of the New World Order and the United Nations - Just in disguise - It's a government conspiracy. LOL

I am glad they didn't harm your children.... Keep reading and studying the book as you told the story God saw you through by keeping your mind sharp enough stand up to those wierdo's.

Well done! :clapper: There is an organisation which exposes these conmen. I'll try to find it, and PM the details. Meantime, try putting "cult" into your search engine. You might also want to contact your local newspaper. These leeches can do a lot of harm. They should be on General Licence.
