fishing the clyde

my little brother was fishing the clyde last week and caught this salmon. its a kelt i think. a bit thin and the colour has went out it. it gave him a good fight. what do yous think, ave put my glove next to it so yous can see what size it is

nice 1 mate,

i did the same about 3 weeks ago, and was chuffed to bits with myself.

 

but then i was also told that it is illegal to keep a kelt & what is more i think it is the same in the uk.

sorry but i dont mean to ruin your catch.

 

like that i was advised to take the pic of the fish down so as not to cause anymore trouble for myself.

but bad move a kelt is a fish returning from sponning the reason for it being so skinny never eat a kelt but suppose not to taste anywhere near as good as a fresh fish.Dont mean to ruin your catch but well done

 

dont get me wrong mate i have made the same mistake when a young'un

it was my young brother who caught it. and hes not so clued up because hes still young.. when he brought it home a knew it didnt look right so a foned one of ma mates and he came up and seen it and told us it was a kelt. he says not to eat it. gave the dogs it.

I think you will find it is ilegal to kill kelts ...but good to see that there are salmom in the clyde
