I could have sworn I added something to the review but now can't find it. I bought this book after first seeing it advertised, and it is superb. I got completely immersed in the whole way of life: the excesses of the officers and their entourage, and sheer madness of taking huge numbers of people out on wolf hunts. We can't begin to imagine the way people lived in those days: how anyone survived those temperatures is amazing: sleeping out in -30 just next to a fire in the woods.

 

Brilliant book and a a very good insight into the way things were in those days.
