Docter scopes!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, this is my first post and id also like to thank you for letting me join your forum. My question to all you guys is that i bught a Docter 8x56 riflescope last year to put on top of my Sako 75 6.5x55 and i am going to upgrade to a 3-12x56. My question is if it were up to you would you stick with Docter or would i be better moving to a Schmidt and Bender. Theres a difference of 300 euro between the to but that wont have any say in my choice. Thank you in advance for your replies.....

i think the upgrade depends on your shooting style and low light etc (8x56 being good for that,3-12 x56 being maybe more versatile?).

both scope make are very good and not alot between them imho.

don't be fooled by alot of the technical data they produce(pupil width limits most of us whe it comes to light efficiancy)light transmission may be very similar between the two makes.

as always i would go for the best you can afford, they both have very good customer service/guarantee.

You really need to look through them both and see if you can notice any difference.

With optics you seem to spend a lot of money on the coatings that the top manufacturers put on their lenses. If you are happy with the Doctor scope and think it is good value and are going to keep it for a long time/for ever, then buy it!

The top of the range S&B's are used by snipers in both the US Marines and our RM's plus those nice people at Hereford are known to use them, and they get the choice to buy what they need. But at £1,400/ish for a PMII it would need to be essential for me to even consider it. It isn't, so I don't. I would howerver like a nice 8x56 with an illuminated reticle.

I had a Docter on my .204, i thinks it was the 6-24x50.... or somewhere near that. Anyways i had the dot reticle, non illuminated - it was amazing in the day but at the lamp you couldnt make out the crosshairs as they were so fine...

i now have a IOR sat on top.

Cheers
