rusty 0
i,ve heard many tales of big numbers being caught, i go out with these lads and never see the big numbers they talk about. but a lot will depend on the land you have to go on. Quote Link to post
Spike01 0
Some of the ground that I have you could do it on, if you could stop anyone else lamping it for a while. We shoot well over the ton mark maybe twice a month and don’t make a dent. The only reason that we don’t shoot more is that they are just about as lamp shy as it gets. We can only shoot that many because these rabbits have to get out and feed. There’s not a lot of grass left with that many of the little buggers running about. Quote Link to post
juckler123 707
big numbers are possible but only for the first few nights in an area 60s and 70s soon go down to twentys and thirties as for a dog doing the ton on its own ive seen it done on moorsides with the gameholes blocked in the stonewalls but not often 50s and 60s in the right area is poss but ive seen a few dogs ruined [blown] when attempting big numbers 20 bunnys a night and your dog should be able to go whenever the weathers right if you need numbers its better to get a couple of longnets its a lot cheaper in the long run Quote Link to post
Guest mush
to the ones who say they've done a hundred were they all taken flat out on the run or a lot taken on the squat?or just after leaving the squat? as any dog that's good on squatters will carry on taking them all night long, as it doesn't take much energy just skill and rabbits. Guest smoothrun
What would anyone want with 100 rabbits I gues its a numbers game for some people. that is not what our sport is all about. Its the same as people who would prolong a foxes death (pre ban) to get a good pic for a internet forum. These people do not love the countryside our our country ways they just want to make out that there dogs are the best dogs out there and they never smile for there pics. Quote Link to post

THURSO JACK WHERE EXACTLY IS THAT PLACE, I DONT MIND A 12 HOUR DRIVE As previously said its in the name. Done it 20 years agoe when I went up there as a 16year old with some Cwmbran guys and yes it was crawling and yes they were dull. Id like to see the same dog catching regular up that way come to S.Wales and catch, it would have a shock. The first night there I put the lamp on before we nipped into Wick for a few beers and the field lifted, literally. Think of your best field then add some and the field was like that (and the surrounding area). I let my bitch go and she was running from one to another with excitement. Suffice to say we had some fun there. When Plummer told us his terriers and alsations regularly caught it was nothing to be impressed at. I reckon I could have gone into double figures myself picking them up. Quote Link to post

It wasnt that long ago, up to the mid-nineties..Too many one for the pot men and part time poachers knocking about now to get the same numbers, and of course not the quality of dogs. THURSO JACK WHERE EXACTLY IS THAT PLACE, I DONT MIND A 12 HOUR DRIVE Yes Tomo we got them numbers, and similar numbers regularly, after that night we were out 2 nights later, and after that, three nights off the trot. Our dogs got big hauls, and on the way back from lamping we would park up and wait for day light to break, to get a couple of course of hares before we went home. I am a numbers man through and through... respect for lurcherman Im affraid goes with how many times they have been caught poaching, how much they have paid in fines or the number of times they have travelled to the fens..What we did in the north east, and Minshaw did in the north west is now irrelevent. I think a 100 per night is possible, but it would be one hell of an achievment for 1 dog.. Quote Link to post
