100 rabbits a night posible or not

had a look round some fields the other night that have just been cut, and the rabbits were up and running as soon as the lamp hit them, so no I dont think a hundred can be done these days with one dog, if it could of ever have been done.

This probably is a bit late in the day consiodering this is just degenerating into a keyboard slagging match. One which, entertaining as it may be is a side issue.

 

My little point was that has anyone condidered that if you are down on the down in wiltsjire you are gonna have a shorter night than if you are running your dog up in the northern reaches of scotland?

 

May not count for much but an extra couple of hours or so is gonna help you get more bunnies in the bag.

Most of the lurchers that I have owned over recent years could run just about fast enough to keep themselves warm,...the lazy fat feckers,... BUT,..I have walked out with various guys that were armed with far superior tykes... I've always made it a rule ,..when standing close to an enthusiast who states that he has taken vast quantities of game with his running dogs,..to,..LOOK at the man,..and not just his jukel Guys that have realy 'walked the walk' always exude the same thing,..and its called PASSION,..not bullshit.... just wondering do you think it would be easier to take 100 summer bunnies or 100 winter bunnys.im not sure which one would be easiest because in the summer eventhough there are alot of green rabbits ,the temperature is alot warmer and there is less darkness but in winter there are more stronger rabbits making it harder for you dog to catch but you will have alot more dark hours and it would be alot cooler.so what time of the year would be best suited for the 100 rabbits a night.im not saying i would go catching that amount summer bunnies obviously only a couple to feed the ferrets and dog.cheers

It can be done, has been done and still could be done if the desire was there! Right night,conditions,fields, experienced conditioned fit dog and the desire to do it. I have no desire to do it much prefer to get a mixed bag, variety is the spice of life

AS I HAVE STATED LONG AGO ON THIS SITE ........... IVE SEEN IT DONE A FEW TIMES ,...... AND INDEED DONE IT MYSELF ..... TWICE !

 

I THINK IT WAS ON THE MINSHAW THREAD ? WHEN MENTIONED ..... HOWEVER HERE GOES AGAIN FOR YOU LOT THAT MISSED IT ...........

 

FIRST TWICE I SAW THE MAGIC HUNDRED PASSED WAS WHEN AS A KID I WAS CARRYING FOR A COUPLE OF LAMPERS THAT WERE LITERALLY MACHINES.... WHO .....WOULD AND DID WALK ALL NIGHT TILL MILK FLOAT TIME !!!

AND WERENT PARTICUALLY BOTHERED WHERE THEY WENT !

EACH TIME ....... { WITHIN A FEW WEEKS OF EACH OTHER } THEY HIT WELL OVER THE HUNDRED AND I WAS THERE TO SEE THE OCCASION THEY USED TWO DOGS ...... A DEERHOUND CROSS AND A CUR GREYHOUND X DEERHOUND GREYHOUND .. NOW I DO BELIVE THEY HIT THE HUNDRED A FEW TIMES AFTER THAT .. HOWEVER I WASNT PRESENT TO SEE

NOT TOO LONG AFTER I DID THE HUNDRED WITH MY TWO .... AND TEAM OF TWO CARRIERS , AND YEP THERE WAS RABBITS THICK AS HEDGEHOGS SPINES ON THE GROUND ....... LATER ON WHEN THE TEAM WAS STILL AT PEAK FITNESS I REPEATED THE FEAT WITH A CATCH WELL OVER THE HUNDRED ..........

I WAS RUNNING A MERLIN / LILEY BRED BITCH WITH WHOM WITH I KILLED UP INTO THE HIGH 70s BUT WHO ALSO MISSED A FEW ON THOSE NIGHTS , HOWEVER I HAVE NO DOUBT THIS RUNNING MACHINE WOULD HAVE TAKEN A LOT MORE " IF " I HAD PUSHED HER ,
