killa-combo 142
noticed the dogs gums were bleeding a little and her teeth wernt looking too white today, (teeth could of been bleeding as the dogs were pulling a football apart) so looked up on google about the minced chicken i feed her as some say it isnt as good as feeding off the bone as the bone cleans the teeth and helps oral hygine, after reading a few bits about this feeding method im thinking of changing over to meat on the bone, prefrebly whole chicken, does anyone else feed whole chicken if soo where could i get it from with the organs still in? And if i wasnt to change over and just give her a good raw bone with her minced food every day or every other day would this help? cheers

martin 332
Fire some lamb necks or breast into it mate as well as un-minced whatever you are feeding it. Martin
Giro 2,648
Seeing you live in cumbria get down to frank birds. Whole chicken will cost a bit you can go for chicken carcases or wings much cheaper.. carry on with the mince and just get Raw meaty bones from your local butcher. Giro 2,648
I feed the carcases.. There from frank bird but i get them from my local butcher think he knocks a little bit on too but still very cheap. I buy them buy the box load there fresh and i bag them up and freeze. think ther 40p a kilo.. Plenty meat on them to some of the folk in the factory should wear glasses still the odd breast on one or two.. I get the odd bone from the butcher keeps dogs teeth and gums clean. Was getting fresh trotters to well cheap and dogs done well on them. edited to add the mince you feed is just them carcases minced thats why its got so much bone in it.. gnipper 6,484
I get chicken carcases £2 for a 12 kilo box which are ok but chicken bones aren't enough for keeping teeth clean imo. Another butchers I go to for cheap mince does boxes of lamb bones/neck/ribs and pigs heads/tails etc for free. Chickens are only about 8/9 week old when their slaughtered and the bones are still soft on the carcases, feed a couple of lambs rib cages and you get clean teeth and anal glands as they pass out solid stools. Hannah4181 260
Beef ribs are excellent teeth cleaners.
PINNACLE 2,297
Another vote for chicken carcases. I give ours few carcases each week and her teeth are pristine even the vet commented on them yesterday. Our local butcher gives me chicken carcases and bones for free and I only usually buy a handful of sausages and bacon each week with the odd tub of livers now and then and a £50 turkey at Chistmas. I have offered to take in a few rabbits but he said there was not much call for them which is a surprise as I am always being asked for more from friends and family.
