Never understood needing big fields, just coz the dogs are big!? All my dogs have lamped rabbits, even in junk yards! I like a bigger dog, and mine have caught rabbits everywhere, and my two best dogs

Pops, there are dogs out there that you can dump on a yote at 400yards, and they will catch AND kill it! I would just breed from them.

Whin, I'm NOT a coyote hunter, I'm just a hunter, I put my dogs on anyhing, and everything! They have done very well on the yotes they have seen, but they are mostly used on other game, single handed. They do well and stay sound, if they didn't, I wouldn't disrespect the guys that bred these dogs before me buy keeping them around!

Whin, its great that you've been around, and out and about with lads over here, but no one is ever going to have seen it all!

Me and Dan Edwards have made a decent breeding here, buy a very good dog, to a very good bitch...hope we get some hunting dogs.

If you or Dan happen to win the lottery any time soon, remember your old mate in Australia and send me a big bitch pup :whistling:

All good coyote dogs have superior run up if they didnt you would never catch a coyote. Dump on the coyote at 300 yards and have it caught at the half mile line. I'd say thats damn good run up and you best have it caught by about the 3/4 line or at least before a mile cause if you dont, you wont be catchin him today. Believe all the bullshit stories you want and listen to all the counterfeits tell their mile and half catch stories but thats all they are, they just stories, just like all the 45 pound coyotes that are caught and killed everyday. Bullshit!

One more thing, where do people get the idea that the big powerful dogs are the best killers. Thats such horse shit. The best killers are the fast dogs. Once again believe all the bullshit if you want but the speed will kill a coyote. Big dumb, clumsy and slow will just get there and f**k everything up is all. Fast throat dogs kill coyotes the others just play with em til they get winded and quit. Dont get me wrong, the coyote will be hurt but it wont be dead. Instead of reading books and talking on the phone to phonies, why dont some folks get out and catch some coyotes with dogs and then you can see for yourself who is telling the truth and who aint.

Oh ya one more thing, if you keep hearing people say that this dog or that dog can catch a good one, that usually means they are cowards.

The next lovely line is the one about how this dog or that dog will sure fight the head hard. Fight? So, does the mother f****r fight a coyote or kill it. I know the answer. If you ever see a great coyote dog you wont be sayin shit like that ever again. You will be walkin along and a coyote will get up and you will whisper to yourself, "dead coyote". There aint no missing him or over running it or any of that bullshit, its caught, its tripped, and its throated and when you walk up there he will be blinking his last blink.

Honestly guys, the good stags would be just at home lamping ranbbits in 5 5 acre fields, as running game over here, in my exsperiance. All this "taking a couple hundred yards to get into top gear" is bull shit! That's just a shity dog imo!...

Send 1 0r 2 over and we will let you know

If someone your side wanted one, and it was a genuine guy, who understood the old Deerhound type, then I would have no problem letting a pup go back to the UK...

Sounds like a very decent offer and a good opportunity for deerhound and deerhound x enthusiasts. Fair play to you Kye.

cheers to everyone that took part in this thread. Maybe one day a proven stag from america or australia will land on our Islands ready to spread his working seed to the right proven deerhound or lurcher bitches. Possibly improving the hunting lurcher, and possibly not, but an exciting prospect none the less
