Child attacked

Recommended Posts

If it was one of mine it would have been pts immediately and when my lad done it he was pts first thing in the morning phoned the vets told them it needed done and they didnt argue.Turns out he was ill and had issues upstairs but still no way would i keep a dog that is capable of attacking anyone for no reason let alone a child. That doesnt look like one bite either or a snap thats looks like it was meant in my opinion.Regardless of whos house that dog was in it needs destroyed as if it gets the right part or a kid on their own outside when its roaming it will kill them cos hows a kid supposed to fight off a staffy? I found 2 the other night one is in copshop as part of a case im told i caught it after it attacked other dogs and frightened kids wasnt actually being aggressive to any of the kids but still 2 of them roaming free on their own and it was collared and handed over and doglost and what not informed.Stupid people with dogs has nasty repurcussions for others everytime seen it more than once despite dogs attacking or snapping in the past oh no my dog wouldnt do that next thing you hear the dogs ragged a kiddie and put him in hospital and scarred them for life not on and i think owners after this sort of thing should have to go through some sort of thing where they prove theyre responsible and can handle a dog and keep it and others safe

Just out of interest....and to turn the tide slightly as regards the pts of a dog that attacks.......what would be the decision if it was YOU that the dog attacked( your own dog in other words )....unprovoked and reasonable damage done......????

I only ask as i had to make this decision myself several years ago and always felt i made the right decision for myself and the dog concerned....be interested to hear your thoughts

If it done it for no reason i dont know if i could trust it ever again i have been bitten by my own dogs in the past and wasnt their fault was me splitting a dog fight and got caught. The second time was an alsation of mine years ago she smashed my thumb but again it was my own fault so didnt blame the dog.I am pretty sure well as sure as i can be id pts cos if theres no trust between you and a dog then theres no relationship i cant honestly answer it as ive never been in that scenario. It must be a horrid decision to face or make so in the end did you pts or keep the hound in question?.I trust my dogs as i can put my face up to bull x lad and snap my teeth and he nibbles my nose lol never hurt me yet when other people see him doing it they freak out cos they think hes going to eat me lol or when he smiles at people a mate commented the other day after jumping over my couch to get away rofl its like getting smiled at by a shark. He wouldnt injure someone unless he thought they were hurting the kids or me or someone broke in or the like then i am pretty sure hed do serious damage they all would but thats something i consider not the dogs fault

I kept the dog alive,it was a very well bred, excellent specimen of its breed who had too many great qualities to destroy because of 1 very bad fault.....

I had a great bond with the dog,a dog who had recieved the best of everything in its upbringing.....i just noticed over a period of a few months he was starting to behave slightly different to normal, small things......until one day i put his food down and he was all over me....ended up with a lot of stitches down my right arm, micro surgery on my right hand, and a lot more stitches on my left leg......what made it worse is i had already witnessed the dogs sire do a similar thing but far worse on the yard of a good dogman a few years previous so i knew it was a trait the line was prone to unfortunately.....like i say,the qualities they had and produced made it a tough decision but with careful selection breeding wise, correct culling, correct kennel set up etc etc.....and not selling dogs....it was something i felt i could cope with and handle....apart from the odd small mishap i stand by the decision i made and still feel i made the right choice.....The dog in question never repeated it and infact died in my arms 9 years later eaten up with cancer, probably the best dog i ever owned.....strange how things turn out sometimes......i think the whole thing just gave me a great interest on the workings of a dogs mind and even to this day its a topic i find great interest in.

Cheers for your thoughts anyway

TThe thing is Gnash ..you know what you,r talking about and doing , I dread to think of that dog in the hands of a div , especially if it,s the breed I think it is .

Oh absolutely....he was the son of a highly thought of dog...people were selling this line for good money at the time so in the wrong hands this dog would have been bred out the arse and a fortune made....probably along with more than a few accidents......i guess like anything else, its just a matter of using common sense and being responsible.

I would have told 9 out of 10 folk to destroy the dog,but when you dont sell dogs or surround yourself with idiots.....its a manageable situation.

I have kids here so its a risk i cant take and would not be willing to take the chance of them being injured or seriously disfugered.I admire you standing by your dog and years ago when it was just me i had several seriously agressive dogs one being a very unfriendly great dane hed been through hell was lucky to be alive when i ended up with him.So people were not his favourite pastime but yet i persevered and kept going till he died at a good old age for a dane but if id had kids i dont think id have done the same
