not many bunnies around

Recommended Posts

Last two weeks for me have been good bags to be honest, last week saw quite a few young ones around but this week was a bit strange.

Last night I got 28 of which 25 were Does and 20 of them were in milk and with babies inside which would suggest they're already on their second litter and not waiting until they have weaned the first lot, maybe the harsh winter has bought about this urgency.

Another bit of land i shoot on it's a farm but for the years i've been shooting there never seen one rabbit and the land owner never has in about 15years the weirdest thing ever everyone i speak to can't work it out anyone know why it's like that?????

I'd guess it's down to the soil, they don't like boggy, stoney or clay rich soil. Light, loamy and sandy and you'll probably never wipe them out.

Round us in Cambs its been bad only had about 5 outings with the ferts all 'season'

Hadnt seen many at night out lamping either.

My mate saw an article in a shooting mag about a disease, Chinese rabbit flu or summat like that, which had decimated the population round this way.

Seeing a few more about now so hopefully a better year in prospect!

Lots around in my area in Kent, went out 4 weeks ago lamping for the first time this year.

The farmer is over run by them i shot 72 then since that night i have shot 41 and 35.

So i presume i have made a dent in their poopulation and the fact that they are more aware of the lamp.

They will make a n appearence for you soon .
