fieldsportsman 107
hi everyone, I have a nineteen month white lakeland terrier. Although I go shooting alot I want to take my terrier and my cousins lakie cross bushing as the breeder that we got my terrier from in Horley, used his terriers for ratting/rabbiting. What would I need to do in terms of finding the rabbit eg walk near to a headge where I suspect rabbits to be hiding. I have already taken him out just to see what his reaction would be, he saw two near the edge of a field and whent for them, but they were to close to their holes he is also keen around rabbit holes aswell and marks them. I know his got a fairly good nose after discovering a mouse nest under a shed and holds his head down rabbit holes for ages sniffing. Also do you think he or both will be fast enough for a lamp. if so what should I do. Edited April 6, 2010 by fieldsportsman Quote Link to post

I find working them in thick cover like brambles etc is best. And as for finding them, once the terrier is interested his nose will do the work. Ive never tried lamping with a terrier so I cant comment on that, I dont think it would be much of a success though. ATB Kyle Quote Link to post
