slingshot82 32
After reading the thread Raiderboy put up (3 questions for you all) I was reminded of a similar problem I had a number of years ago. It was a time when all the shooting I could do was done on the lamp due to the long hours spent at work. At the start of each night, a quick zeroing session was done before we began lamping, Anything between a 5p and a 10p group was near enough. Always managed to get plenty shots off and put alot rabbits in the bag, but occasionally there would be a bad shot that would fall at the rabbits feet, and on a few occasions I would fire a shot that sounded loud as though no pellet was loaded. Only to find a pellet rattling in the silencer some time later. As the problem wasnt there all the time, I carried on with using the gun, which happened to be my Rapid 7 in .22 I then started getting more and more pellets rattling around in the silencer, (not at the same time lol). Each pellet was shook out whenever I noticed the rattling/dry shot. I started to think maybe the seals were gone in the rifle and air leaking at low-ish pressure was enough to push the pellet down the barrel and for it to drop inside the silencer . Spoke to Ben Taylor and sent the action away for a check over and service, only for it to come back with exactly the same problem, over £100 spent and still the same!!! :realmad: . Again I sent it back to Ben Taylor and Son for them to test it and say it was fine. A short while later, I was loading up the magazines in daylight and found 2 different size pellets in the tin :aggressive: . There were .22 pellets and .20 pellets in that tin and it must have come from crosman like that because Ive never owned or used a .20. Well im sure you all could imagine how pissed off I was :realmad: I had great intentions of writing a letter to crosman, hoping to get something towards the price of my service etc on the rapid and maybe some free tins of pellets. But like alot of people, I get these ideas but nothing much comes of them. Anyway lesson learned, and I always check what im loading these days. Thanks Kyle Quote Link to post
andyz 30
Definately worth checking, never thought of it myself but will definately be paying more attention in the future! Regarding a letter of concern, well worth taking the time and making the effort. I recently wrote an email to Le Chameau as the zip on my wellington had broken, I had definately had my moneys worth of wear and they were a couple of years old but they sent me a brand new pair. I say I was over the moon was a bit of an understatement. I never usually do this but will mbe making more of an effort in the furture, after all it's our hard earned cash!!! Good luck, Andy. slingshot82 32
Is there a noticable difference between a .22 and a .20 pellet. thanks About half a millimeter mate, I couldnt tell the difference in the dark while loading up my magazines, but noticed it very quickly in the daylight. The .20 pellets slid down the barrel without and force behind them. Its a mistake I wont make again thats for sure. Lol Cheers Kyle Quote Link to post

Sounds like it was well worth the effort mate . I wish I had taken the time to write crosman a letter at the time, it would have been interesting to see what they would have done. I suppose it was just lazyness, lol. Quote Link to post
