niffkin 1
Hi I ve been looking for a suitable moderator for 17hmr and its now a toss up between the ASE Utra Or the Wild Cat. The Ase being a bit heavier and the wild cat being an over the barrel design so this making the barrel length shorter than if i had the ase? SOOOO what do you think ? Quote Link to post
waidmann 105
have you considered the sak mod? cheap and do the job very well. i have not tried the others so cannot comment on them. cheers waidmann Quote Link to post
andy s410c 61
Used my Hmr with the Sak mod for the first time on Sunday.Yes it's a loud crack but the round is breaking the sound barrier so nothing can be done about that . The shooting times did a article on which mod for my Hmr & the decibel reduction could be measured in single figures between all the mods they tested.....if i remember the Sak came in 3rd so for a £30'ish mod it's good value for the money. Personally for me the Hmr will be a gun to have for a nice summers day, on the bipod, little or no wind & just a couple of rabbits to be shot for ferret food,my .22lr will be the workhorse around my shoot this summer Quote Link to post

jamie g 17
ive had them all the sak,dm80 old and new model, wildcat also. there isnt much difference in noise on any of them. if i had to pick tho i would still go for the older dm80. i had on on my annie hmr and it was very well built, easy to clean and done a cracking job on the muzzle blast Quote Link to post
kips 0
hi i have a sak mod on my 17hmr very good Quote Link to post
theinvisiblescarecrow 0
If I was short of money I'd get a SAK. If money wasn't such an issue I'd go for either a ASE, DM80, Whisper. The ASE gave me a POI change with the 22lr compared to other mods but was certainly a good one, I used it for quite some time but annoyed me because when plinking down my local range I had to aim off while shooting without the Utra fitted. My personal choice at the moment is the DM80 but I'm playing with a Hogan at the moment & the jury's still out. Here's a SAK on a HMR. Quote Link to post
Tobias 0
Where can i get a DM80 and is it as good as a wildcat whisper ive tried the wildcat cub and its rubbish on my Anshutz hmr with a 14" barrel made my ears ring and the Sak is only a little better i thought.Does anyone make a good/great mod for the hmr that muffles the blast noise alot will spend good money on the best if it makes a big change. Hi I have had both the ASE and am now using the whisper on my Anshultz HMR. The whisper IN MY OPINION is definely quieter. The sound at the rifle is changed into more of a "thud" rather than a " crack. Tony Quote Link to post

Tony Looks like you could save a lot of money and get better reduction then, the SAK and SiroccoSM11 are both much better and cheaper than the Whisper according to Shooting Times!! Sound Reduction. Whisper 23.3dB SAK 26.9dB LEI 27.5dB SM11 28.6dB Quote Link to post
danebrewer10 6
hmm well if it's between those two then I don't know- I was just going to suggest the SAK like a lot of other folks- much cheaper, just as good if not better than more expensive models, if's easy to strip and clean, cheap, and the best value for money you're likely to find!
