jigsaw 11,865
just one question,WHY DID YOU LEAVE IT TILL NOW TO TRY STOCK BREAKING? Was there a good reason for not doing it sooner like as you only aquired her of late or you were too busy at work? From 12 weeks on the pup should be in and out of stock on a regurlar basis. i didnt get her until she was 12 month Thats what entered my head Bondy, hope you get her sorted, theres a long summer there,if you do nothing else all summer be sure you give it your best shot to have her steady with them,it means a lot having that peace of mind, good luck with your mission ,JIGSAW
PINNACLE 2,297
I got a second hand air collar off an auction site for my one year old as we had the same problem. She would chase horses, sheep, deer and our cat endlessly. We tried taking her fields with sheep and down to my wifes livery yard but it was all too much of a game for her. I am sure in time we would have cracked it but it would meant having to keep her on the lead for a lot of walks. They are not cheap but it worked as we can now take her off the lead through a deer park, a field full of sheep and she now is starting going out with the wife when she is riding. She still chases the cat though, the urge to chase small furry things is stronger than a spray in the chops. I'm thinking of using it on the kids during the holidays to stop them squabling. Yeah my dog chases sheep. It's a real pain in the arse to be honest. I'm going to keep walking her through them and correct her even if her ears prick up. I want her to be completely relaxed around all livestock. BTW pinnacle, what is an 'Air collar'? I've never heard of one, is it like a shock collar or something? PINNACLE 2,297
It is a remote controlled collar that blows a puff of air under the dogs chin, it does no harm just distracts them. I got a Dynavet Masterplus Pro (do a search on line) in the end as it came highly recommended. The only down side is it takes a £6 battery and it only lasted two months. shadowfax 0
To her down there yesterday, the bloody sheep are a bit too tame. I walked through them a couple of times and she was pretty calm so I sat on the grass with her. Before I knew it we were surrounded by about 40 Shetland sheep. She was good as gold but I had to force my way through them to get out. A couple were trying to butt me but I stamped on the ground and they foxtrot oscared. It was good for her but I was a little bit worried for a bit, I didn't fancy being trampled into the ground by poxy sheep!
