PINNACLE 2,297
My dog is a bit lame after a big play with a few other dogs on Sunday. I noticed it more yesterday when she was chasing a ball so I took it easy after that with her just walking and having a mooch in the morning and the same in the afternoon. This morning she seemed fine until half way round our usual walk when she kept pestering me to throw her ball and it was then that I noticed she is still running funny at full stretch. She does not seem to be in pain but has a definite Jack Russell type hop over walking speed and does not stretch out fully at speed. She is a fit energetic 1 year old who has had no problems before but I am a bit worried. I guess I should just take it easy with her but how easy and is there anything else I should do? GooseyLucy 2
I'm sure someone has an osteopaths number for you. She may have knocked her back out, the disc would put pressure on the nerves when she's stretching out causing her to short stride or kick a leg out. An osteopath should be able to sort this out, or detect if there is another injury causing her problems. If you haven't got a number in the morning I'll have a dig around and see if I can't find the contact details for Rob Meeks, I have his number somewhere.
PINNACLE 2,297
I never thought of that as a treatment but it makes sense. I have had a look on the net and left a couple of messages for people. I called our old vets to be who did not know of any one. I am near Guildford, Surrey but will travel if you have a number that would be great.

PINNACLE 2,297
Got that and thanks. Our vet insisted on looking at the dog before letting me take her to an osteopath the charged me for it, she was not sure what was wrong and even suggested xrays. New vet on the way!! The osteopath I went to figured out it was a pulled muscle in about 10 minutes, gave the dog a good massage and advised on short walks on the lead and take it easy for a couple of weeks. Harsh on the dog but looks like no lasting damage.
GooseyLucy 2
Good Stuff , mine will be having a visit from an Osteopath soon, my 18mths bitch has just done her first pass in racing (lucky 3rd attempt) so she'll need the once over before she dons her jacket and muzzle . PINNACLE 2,297
The good news is my dog is well on the mend and has had a couple of good walks off the lead, the limp is much better, I think the injury is a memory thing now as well because she went after a rabbit this morning and looked as good as new. I went to a hydrotheropy spa today to have a look and will be taking her there in a couple of weeks, the dogs I saw swimming loved it and they had all got over some serious illnesses and injuries.
