davyt63 1,845
WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!! hi every one as some of you may know i got my AAS410K .22 back the week end,and was keen to get out and chrono it & zero it! but let me tell you where i made my first mistake! that led to a strip down in the field. i have one of those mag holders which you wrap around your stock,i did have it on the .22 but when that went away to be serviced i switch it over too the .177 (first!! mistake!) so im all keen and getting ready to take both rifles out .177 & .22 but i had a small distraction my brother came around to fix my PC and that took a while, and im itching to get out ! finally i get out load the mags up i slip the .22 mags in there stock pouch! and load the other 2 mags fill both rifles to 160bar and get my target out to zero all done now.all i have to do is relax and control my breathing and start to zero, so i picked up the .22 ? got the mags out loaded in to the breach cocked it and went to push it forward.and thought i only put the .22 in the .177 so now i have a real problem !! so i did not touch it for about 10 minutes till i calmed down, now i know it would not go into the barrel because of head size PHEW!! so of with the scope,of with the stock,of with the indexing plate,of with the barrel.and there it was PHEW!! i took it out and put it all back together and its still holding a good group!! @ 30yds so lesson learned here always check your mag before loading it into the breech if you shoot both calibers! so hopefully peeps will see this and think twice if they take both Cal's out in to the field. in bits and here you can see where i had to pull it out,PHEW!!! here you can see how far the head went into the barrel.when i pushed the bolt home i knew something was up,and stopped straight away so lets hope peeps will learn from my mistake! be gentle with your replies regards davy Quote Link to post

silentshot1 206
Luckily I only have a .22 with a mag! Otherwise I would have done that by now! Davy, I got the red filter through this morning. Is it heat retardant? I will fit it over a cardboard ring otherwise to stop it melting as the night searcher lamp heats up to quite a temperature! I can imagine how f%$ked off you must have been at first. If it helps, you could always send the .22 to me. That way you'll never find yourself doing that again! Anything to help! Cheers James Quote Link to post
