spiderpig 39
supprised the comments of why breed from her ect ect and such like havent cropped up and thanks for the comments, the russel for info was a mother daughter breeding of a local hunt ter man,he threw very very typy dogs most with black spots under there coat, once let a kinda pal use him as stud further north than me and now there is loads of hi decendants around the shows, biggest mistake ive mad for ages,,you will be supprised how many russels have been bred down from this dog just throught that one line......he lost his eye due to sand and muck grating on his eye over the years,i was never very good at cleaning them out ect but again you live and learn....i have loads of daft bstorys that have happened over the years,,like me jumping on a bolting fox and getting bitten for it,loads and loads of funny things and il get round to putting up another sometime..... Ryeuken 7
well what your about to read i doubt if many of you will belive but it is 100% true and has been whitnessed by countless terrier men .... ive been helping my dad move house and found some old photos from 1999 of a dog called tag and spured me on to share the tales just to see if anyone had ever seen anything like it before.... i was given her by some reputable lads as had been a throw back out of the litter and not what they wanted,to be honest she was bloody horrible to look at.weak head, horrible linty coat, looked rather like a dandy dinmont terrier,my pals did laugh when i first produced her out the car.... her first fox was in a artficial earth, she entered easily and struck up readily, wehn we lifted the bed top my mate laughed and remarked that she had shit herself as in the process of engaging her fox a turd was half way out of her arse!!! .but she performed very well and continuned to do so all that season and got increasingly harder and harder and for her size she was a little demon, hard as nails and could get where water coudnt, then along came spring and cubbing.i had noticed a litter in a place where there usually was on a bank side and sand, always went off the box,i kept an eye on it and waited untill i thought the cubs would be big enough to bolt as they had to be moved on at the time as otherwise the farmer would no doubt deal them a swift demise... as it was close ish to a main road i waited untill early tea time and may mate accompanied me to the earth. it hadnt changed since last time i was at it and if anything had got bigger, ket was everywhere and it stunk to high heaven you know the type of place. all nets where set and in went little tag.we just laid back on the bank as you do to wait for things to happen as i knew from previous visits that it goes a long way and isnt a five minute job,the time alapsed i cant remember but i remember her backing into a net,my mate reached over as it was near him and flicked it off her,she shot back down a few feet and backed up again tail wagging....she cleared the entrance and then i took a double take as following her was a cub!the size of a half grown cat.she was dancing around playing with it like a mother and pup...im not kidding yopu hear either, and then another and another, there was 3 on top and she was playing with them,,absolutly unreal it was, there was no agresion ion her at all...we gathered them up and she went back in and out followed 2 more cubs with her... to be honest i nearly shot her the next day as in my eyes she had just jacked big time,my mate also in 20 odd years of terrier work had never seen anything like it..ever.... a few days after i dug the following dog fox with her at around 5 foot and she worked as she always had done and recive=ing plenty of punishment for her efforts...i was a little confused to say the least but it seemed anything pregnant or with young was no longer quarry more of a friend,,,,not a one off either as she was used my many local dog men for doing exacly as ive described,no one could belive it untill they saw it!! the season after i was helping with the terriers for a well known hunt and she got heaps and heaps of work and just got better, the funny goings on the previous cubbing kinda forgotten about....untill late in the season hounds marked to ground in a vertical old tree trunk maybe 30ft long.it was a good mark and as a keepered estate on there wishes it was to be accounted for,it only had one entrance so in she went, then nothing!! yes no noise no bumping ,baying nothing..we got a mark the other end and was just silent.we didnt know what was happening so with the help of a axe we started to break through.now bear in mind there was 5 lads stood with us plus a full hunt field as this was nearing the days end,we chipped away until we broke though and a hole the size of a football was made.now im not taking the piss when i say this as there was loads there to see it,the bloody dog and the fox both poked there heads out side by side!just like two pals! no one could belive it but on closer inspection it was a vixen heavy in cub and due any day,,,,talk about strange!!! she was bred off the next summer as due to her size and total guts in working she was a main dog to me and i regarded her very well, good dogs are hard to find and ive seen ten times more wankers than even half decent ones. i hadnt worked her oin cubs since the previous season and when it came around again a well known terrier man borrowed her for the very reasons mentioned earlier as she would never harm cubs but if the vixen was at home after having them then she was fair game.... anyway he rung me up about ten two nights later and said well her cub saving days are over! what you mean i asked and he replied that he had just dug 7ft to her and she had killed 6 cubbs and had hammered the vixen so hard she was buggered two...it suprised me but thats how it was as from then on nothing was out of bounds and would kill anything she could cubs or no cubs, turned out to be an exellent all round dog and she is the grandmother grandmother of my present dogs.... why she acted like she did pr litter il never know.baffled me then and still dous now.. oh and before anyone askes about the other dog in the picture he was a free to good home job out the freeadds,my mate went and looked at him for me and said if you dont have him i will.he was a good dog, pretty big but game, suffered from getting his top pallet lifted all the time so used to spend a great ammont of time in sick bay though,i never used him breeding wise apart from a mistake and not know now who i gave the pups too,its one thing i regrett as you never know what you will miss untill its gone.... [/quo good read mate! Quote Link to post
