the_stig 6,614
with my useual 2 car boot pitchs waterlogged we decided to try somewhere new with hard standing - that would let me take a 40 x 10 ft pitch not bad for a tenner ..i`m not one for being had over i dont mind a barter and a deal so long as it go`s my way had a busy start took some big money early on , rent man comes around a takes my tenna around 9 - a young lad comes round hanging his nose over the fishing tackle i noticed he got a couple of rods and a bulgeing hold all he spins me a yarn about he`s off to the coast on holiday in the afternoon and his dad had sent him with a tenna to set himself up with some tackle he takes 2 rods 2 reals a tackle box a bag of floats and a calor lamp and some other bits off me at half the marked price and sticks a fiver and 5 pound coins in my hand departs askin has the rent man been round ? gets to 11 the rush has done so i leave the girls to work head off for a mooch and a bacon cob on the way back i see the young lad with all his mornings buys spread out on a bit of sheet selling at treble what he`d payed i had a chat with him he said he doe`s it every week and it beats a paper round he makes £20-30 profit and he`d avoided the rent man ... as i left i heard him tellin someone that he was sellin his fishing gear to replace the bike someone had nicked off him ... he had me hook line and sinker and a few others ... J Darcy 5,871
I know what your'e saying Duckwing, but that young lad is prepared to go out and have a go. I have told a few lies when i was young 'un, who hasnt! I would rather see a lad trying to make a couple of quid for himself than sat in front of the TV playing some Wii game all weekend. Sure, he might grow up a "snake" but on the other hand he might become a successful person not scared to have a go to get himself on in life rather than just sitting on his arse from the age of 16 with the begging bowl out looking for handouts like so many do nowadays.... Theres two sides to every coin.... I have worked since i was 12 years old and i can honestly say that no one has given me anything, it sickens me when people are being handed benefits and the working man is penalised at every turn..... Just my thoughts...good hunting.....JD
poacher3161 1,766
Seems the type that would come up to you in town and give you the sob story hes lost his bus fare home and mugs like me usualy fall for it wile they look for usually another old person to dupe a bit like the travelers who sent a young lad to try and con the old boy next door to me lucky he was spotted
