SportingShooter 0
Not sure how this one pans out. When they are in season, they can be shot on a Sunday in Certain Counties of England and Wales anyway, but when they are just on the General License as a pest, I can't see a Sunday being out of bounds, just the same as it isn't for other pest species. Don't forget that although they are classed as pests, they are a Wildfowl species and still need to be shot with non-toxic shot regardless of the time of year, which unfortunately means no Lead in your bang stick I'll see what I can dig up. SportingShooter 0
I can't see anything by proof reading over the relevant licenses, i.e. "To protect flora and fauna" Have a look here Quote Link to post

stevienicknacks 2
I shoot them all year round on any day of the week, have never heard that they can't be shot on a Sunday. On the general licence I imagine they are the same as any other pest. Quote Link to post

Just a bit of info here........as i had the same discussion with my FAO and indeed DEFRA about the toxic shot issue. The rule only applies to SHOT and NOT Bullets as i understand it, so if you are using shotgun cartridges then they indeed need to me non-toxic.......but you can use a .22 rimfire for instance. Another point........In my county.......i had to have canada geese included in the wording on my FAC as a named species i could legally shoot as part of my open licence, so may be worth checking that point as well. Deker 3,478
This looks familier, so is the reply... If you intend to shoot them as Wildfowl you will need to comply with the relevant legislation. If you intend to invoke and comply with the General Licence provisions in England, you can deal with them whenever you like, including Sundays. The General Licence needs to be checked for EACH part of the UK, there are differences! Quote Link to post

I can't shoot them here, though the occasions where I've seen them and they have been shootable are practically nil. Quote Link to post
coldweld 65
Depends on the county bylaws . Some allow wildfowl on sundays some don't. Quote Link to post
clint 45
You can down load licence & print from BASC site, for crop protection fron canada geese. http://www.basc.org.uk/en/codes-of-practice/sporting-agents-and-guides-offering-inland-goose-shooting-code-of-practice.cfm Edited April 5, 2010 by clint Quote Link to post

RicW 67
I've been looking at this from a rather different viewpoint, arguing with antis on one of their own websites. If you are shooting them (geese, not antis) under general licence there are no restrictions on time, and you can use lead shot in a S/G. If you are shooting them under a Game Licence you have restrictions on times and you must use non-toxic shot. DON'T arsk me to make sense of it. The law is an ass. Ric Edited to add that Canada geese are on general licence because they are a major threat to native marsh waders such as lapwings, nor because of crop damage.
