paul87 0
the older russel is four years and the younger one is two years the depth was between 1.4 and 0.8 on both earths nothing massive puppy spots really (well the second) ther was two holes on the first earth and good scent and one hole on the second with remains of pheasants so these two dogs should have got the goods, this is why i dont rate russells and stick to the patts u dont rate russels 2 of the best diggin dogs tht i hav eva seen wer both russels frm the sound of things these dogs in question wer not up 2 the job bt dnt tar every russel wut the same brush mine has neva let me down on a charlie granted she is jus a youngster nd nt done alot bt she is showing alot more promis than my mates patt!! RIOHH 30
If you have dug to the older russell before and you know it is 100% the question i would be asking is why did it walk out Eg, not very well, quarry it doesnt like. ATB martin he seemed well enough in himself and has bolted and dog foxes before perhaps he has just thrown the towell in ive heard of dogs doing this, what do u think Thats fair enought then mate if there was no real reason to walk out then i d say your right he has just give up. The only other thing i will say is so this doesnt happen again try to keep the dogs that were fighting apart. ATB martin Quote Link to post

FightTheBan 1,147
Sure it was fox?. If you have dug to the dog before and it is genuine i would be asking other questions mate. I would have fininshed the dig with another dog to confirm it, then make my judgement. If you didnt finnish the dig you are just speculating, and to be honest at this time of year they could have been cubs or something else. Should have finished the dig. FTB Quote Link to post

Attack Fell Terrier 864
... Turnerboi havnt you listened to anything iv told you about russells :11: you should have been out enough to realise whats right and what isnt by now It's nothing to do with the dogs being Russell's it to do with the fact that they're not up to the job. There's Russell's about that will do the job and do it well. Quote Link to post
DOC MARTIN 17
how old were the dogs, and how deep was the dig, and how many times has you mate dug to his dogs.because some inexperants dogs get distracted by the sound of the digging never liked russel anyway why did tou not slip the patterdle anyways imo you pair are as bad as the dogs you all walked away because are patts were knocked up because theyve been fighting and we cant dig to a dog which isnt in ther and ther was no other dogs there to finish the job else we would have i was livid [bANNED TEXT] i agreed to give him best but with no dog holding charlie he would just have moved as we started bumping again Sounds like your in trouble..Shit Rusells and fighters in the kennel Quote Link to post

FTB [ Agree, I have seen 100% dogs unsure with cubs, and its that time of year for new borns in Scotland/N England - would be worth finding out before putting to sleep!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to post
turnerboi 27
i would have finished the dig if we had a dog to put in that was capable the quarry was fox and im not calling all russels shit but these two were, the dogs that fought wer only together because i had been in wales for a week so that couldnt be helped due to kennel space Quote Link to post

Guest AngelicAcid
Get a positive off a well trusted dog/bitch, then try the others, if they wont go and stay, then maybe they are good finders for depth, only use is for finding depths which can be invaluble, I think thats what Fieldsportshunter wants as well.
