working the cover

i'm having trouble getting my 10 month lakie fell to work the cover even with older dogs that work he seems only to be interested in running around . he will work a ditch where we have got rats but just dosnt seem interested in entering the cover. any ideas for me

hi mate my pat bich was the same she wood just run around the cover but just ceep at it an you will find that dog will get ther in the end mine naw 13 mounth and bushing fine we just had he where we new ther was alot of rabbits and when she seen one she in after it

At ten month old it is still a pup just persavere and eventually it will twig on to what you want it to do.

Its probabley cottoned on that the other dogs are doing the hard work seen it a bit with terriers for bushing take him out on his own.

he might come on in time as hes young yet and probably dont know what hes on,if the other dogs get a kill in the cover that might bring him in.i know its very annoying, i hate seein terriers peeping into the cover,if theyre any good they should drive through it,anyway best of luck
