Guest digthemdeeper
About 18 months old is the marker mate, but depending on ur dogs maturity n upbringin either side of that (give or take a month or so).. Some, if not most bull x's will start a little earlier due to their determination n prey drive but still needs to brought on at a steady pace when started a little earlier.. Most lads will know when their dog is ready but as i said 18 months old is the marker.. Hope this helps pal. ..... Pa Spot on the deerhound x greyhound take longer to mature about 2 years but after that the will become single handed fox dogs.... Quote Link to post

runforyourlife 361
Why does evrybody think that bullx have more prey drive that other lurchers.... My beddy x collie/grey took his 1st when he was 11mths old.(preban) A mistake i must admit, as it wasnt sited due to being sand dunes...My old bullx wasnt into them at all till he was about 18mths then he spewed his first one, and turned off the run of his next few! The only difference i see in bullx and conventional lurchers is that , a bull may go and have another go after it has been biten(due to starting them to young) once or even twice. Where another lurcher may think, bollocks to that. It will still run them but only nipping at the charlies back end. Thats when all is lost and your dog fails the charlie, again due to starting to young...all preban of course... Theres no rush pal. you might as well wait an extra 6mth, as wait the whole of the dogs life time, so that you can get another and learn from your mistakes! "why does everybody think that bull x have more prey drive" because they have fact!! im not slaggin any other breed off its horses for courses How many other different types of lurchers have you worked with then stanley?? And why would i call them, when i have both types of dogs! The conventional lurchers always seems to catch more than the bullx....so your proof is? Quote Link to post
