My whippet pup ALWAYS finds some poo to roll in, the other day i took them out while it was pouring down so what she found was all wet and gooey, she got it all over her collar as well and i had to bath her when we got in, she has just done it again, it isnt as bad this time but it is still rank sick.gif

I dont want to be bathing her down everyday but is there anything i can do to deter her? (she usually listens when i raise my voice at her but im usually too late laugh.gif )

Use antibacterial hand wash: I know your'e not supposed to use human stuff on dogs but I've found that any of these work: for really bad smells like rotten fish I just spray the dog with Dettol antibacterial surface cleaner, rub well in and rinse straight off: never had a dog keel over on me yet for doing that, and it works.

You could always set the dog up by planting mouse traps all round a previously sussed out pile of fox sh't: then when the dog goes to roll in it the traps all start going off: they won't hurt the dog but they might give its toes a nip LOL Hopefully it will then associate getting pinged by the mouse traps with the smell of fox sh*t: worth a go.

You gotta catch it doing it and give it a bollocking at the time, no point doing it after. Watch her going to roll and run up to her telling her NO!! in a stern voice, it will work if you catch her young. My terrier was a bugger for it till i did that. Oh and the cold hosepipe wash at home ....he wasn't too keen on that one. hasn't done it for years now :clapper:

I was told if you put a tiny drop of lavinder oil on the back of the dogs neck every now and then works.

I never tried it as I was lucky enough to catch mine doing it and tell her off, she hasn't done it since.
