Scope mounted lamp what type????

Recommended Posts

Hi all this is my first post so hello!!!

I am getting my new tikka t3 in .223 soon i am looking around for a scope mounted gun lamp.

I wsa looking at two, the lightforce striker and the deben ledray gl4. I am leaning more to the ledray for the reason of not having to carry around battery packs.

Can anyone tell me what is best for lamping foxes.

Thanks any info would be great.

....... you are comparing 2 very different things, forget the ledray, it is an air rifle lamp at best.

So the Lightforce wins hands down in this one...BUT...plenty of other lamps to look at...check out the Deben Max Pro....here...

Plenty of others to look at as well, this is for a .223, you need to be able to see a distance even if you do not intend to shoot a distance!!

I suspect Deben will supply direct, at top dollar of course, (but then I would have thought Uttings would to) so a search round the web could be in order.

I'm getting the big stirry stirring spoon out :clapper::boxing:

BUT?

What BUT?

Lamps have been done to death, resuscitated, killed again and brought back AGAIN. Lightforce always comes out on top for one simple reason. They throw the best beam of any lamp in their class. And that is the top of the wish list of the majority of buyers, to be able to see as clearly, or as far, as possible per €€€.

The wiring and connections, shit as they are - and which should be rectified at factory - just doesn't put that many people off because of it's beam throwing ability.

*Safety back on, spoon now shouldered*

Got sheepies to feed now

OK

Lightforce for me, I've had one for 7 years, totally happy with it, I carry my battery in a 'girly' backpack bag from a charity shop, with the curly lead under my arm

up to the scope mounted lamp (I use a Red filter, but that's another story) hands free and easy to use.

The switch is taped to the lamp body as I also use the lamp 'free style' when out with my mate i.e. not gun mounted, all the leads have 'bullet' connectors so we can mix and match

our lamping gear/batteries in the field.

The original switch broke after about 3 years, so I replaced it with one from Wickes, apart from that no complaints!

Thanks lads for all your advice. :notworthy: :notworthy:

What do ye think of the lithium lon battery packs or the the lithium lon/polymer packs

Sorry for the stupid questions but i am just trying to get the best start at the foxes when me new baby arrives (t3 lite stainless 223). I dont want to be having to send for or go back to my local gun shop to get a different bit of kit because the one i got is crap.

Many thanks

The LIon batteries are 10amp. I use an 18amp sealed lead acid battery. People are saying the 10amp goes all night, yet my 18amp will certainly not go all night. They're certainly lighter, they're certainly more expensive, I struggle to believe the claims on how long the LIon batteries last. 10amp is 10amp AFAIK.
