runforyourlife 361
Swingers for pike..... maybe on a calm day mate but not if theres any breeze. You need tight ridged arms. Seen pike in cold weather swallow baits on the spot, barely giving an indication. If there is a little wind, you would think the single bleep is down to wind.....plus on most scottish lochs t would be all most impossible to use them. Altho i do see them being used, it is usually someone who has tryed to find the most sheltered place on the water, rather than find or fish where the pike are...Cant beat the most tryed and tested drop back... Nice set up you have there, If ya take a close look at the indacators that I use you will see that they are a solid steel bar with sliding weights, miss typed re swingers. Is that a fox ET drop off that you are using, I did have a set of them send over to me, but found that they were giving problems regarding the tilt switch in the head, have you ever had a problem with them?? Looks like a nice bit water that you are on. Quote Link to post

Irish Lurcher 1,013
Irish lurcher... what waters do you fish in ireland? and what stamp of fish are you catching... Depends on what takes my fancy, could be large waters one day, small lakes next, no real fixed patten, I surpose I would catch average weight pike, with the odd big one thrown in. Quote Link to post

aaronpigeonplucker 32
i use a fox predator elite fly rod coupled with and a scierria XDP pike reel. a wf 9 scierria pike line and 20LB big predator leader and one of these monsters on the end: http://store.theflyshop.com/catalog/images/352f.gif fly fishing for pike is as good as it gets and you get so mcuh more fight out of fish which would be weighed down with ledger rigs. neil r 1,860
For most of my bait fishing i use nash 3.5lb tc rods and either shimano baitrunners or diawa big pits and power pro braid , for alarms i use micron p rear alarms (going to upgrade to billys back biters ) and delkims on the front , the photo shows fox front alarms but ive moved them on since the photo was taken. My end tackle is 40lb carboflex wire and owner trebles with a 3,5 to 4 oz free running lead. The photos not showing for some reason even thogh ive resized it Edited March 31, 2010 by neil r Quote Link to post
Guest arch1
Not Pike/Carp related, but i used to have a good smell of the guy in the next pegs groundbait, try to guess what he was using. If i knew him, i'd probably add a couple of shot to his float rig...... Quote Link to post
