Alexisrouzee 6
okay i think this is going a bit off topic here probably because i put my opinion in about things i feel are a bit..... so lets just clear this up 1, i never used to dislike hunting with hounds, its tradition... HOWEVER when i said dogs tear the fox to bits that IS what happens!? you say ''broken'' into pieces... its not a chocolate bar its an animal. 2, i personally wouldn't do bow hunting as im crap with one and in larger game it takes quite a while for them to bleed out... which is true 3, this topic is only ment to discuss the ''yee haa'' style hunting of the video and lack of respect for the quarry that was hunted, or if it was me growing soft with age!? he said it came at him but the comments say its only a pup it never would have charged at him!? and even if it was lurking around grow a set of bollocks and fire a few warning shots!! as for the ''dont take the piss'' comment.... really...? you think i have no experience of this?? and read it in books.... no, i have seen dogs coursing and.... like i said before i dont have a problem with it some of my friends do it!!! i have shot many different guns and hunted many different quarry and yes maybe 1 or 2 wasnt a clean head shot when i was younger but they were followed instantly up with another to the head.... now i only go for head shots in the range im comfortable in, its only fair and right for the animal. i hope that clears up any ''bad feelings'' on this topic and like ive said its only a forum... world would be a boring place if we all thought the same!? Alexisrouzee 6
Its poor to say the least But why even post this on the airgun section or even this site.We dont really need to see it well again... it was to get other peoples view who hunt, (to a very high standard) and use great marksmanship principles every time they hunt. like someone pointed out that if you where brought up to believe a certain thing then its okay? i only post in this section as i only really do air rifle and shotgun shooting. i see you must feel even worse than i do about it, for that im sorry but like i said above and previous reply no.3. And what do you consider a long time ?...just establishing how much knowledge you actually have on the subject cause as of right now it sounds like you have none. Your "true" is bullshit... Aaron Proffitt 142
Hi Davy, Sorry I've been away...I have new pups friend and they are keeping me jumping. Anyway, given that bowhunting is not allowed there, let me provide some insight as I have been bowhunting for over 2 decades now and have taken bears, elk, pronghorn antelope, mule and whitetail deer and numerous wild hogs with a bow. An arrow does in fact kill by hemmorhaging , but not in bleeding out in the way Alex describes it or has envisioned. Let me explain. We all know the major organs work by providing oxyqen to the brain as in spec. the heart and lungs. When an arrow travels through the organs, razor sharp head cuts as it passes through severing ALOT of major vessels and arteries. This almost all but eliminates blood that is passing to the brain....and the animal dies . Couple that with the trauma inflicted on the heart/lungs and it's over that much quicker as the organs are severly damaged and even less efficient at passing along oxygen enriched blood. How long does it take ? Consider that almost every big game animal I have ever taken dropped in it's tracks at less than 250 yards . How fast can a deer or antelope cover 250 yards at a sprint ? Pretty damn quick. Most fall at 50 to 150 yards....that's dead with-in seconds. And a great many I have shot acted as though nothing happened, then got wobbly kneed and keeled over. My Idaho lion showed no reaction at all and I thought I missed, then it just fell out of the tree. Anyway, sorry to Alex for my strong reaction...false perceptions really fire me up. (joke....) I tried to clear it up above its only opinion's dude and i have actually removed the vid link due to peoples reaction.... i was talking about respecting your quarry (which is also pointed out in the ''rules of forum'') didnt mean for it to branch out as it did im still learning what can be talked about on this hunting forum and what get strong reactions so will not be expressing my views again thats for sure Quote Link to post
