RicW 67
Quite some time back I started a thread on "What calibre would you have if you could only have one". Now I'm asking the opposite question. If you were limited by your budget, as we all are, to a small number of guns, what would you go for? You are allowed to start from scratch with your choices, but not to go berserk. If you are on a sensible budget to buy your guns, what would you have? I would have an Anschutz .22lr with a 20" barrel for UKBR22, and a SYSS semi for field use. Then a purpose built .204 which would be a "sniper" rifle for long range fox and pest birds. As a stalking gun I would like a 6.5x55 or Remi .260, 22" barrel. Then what? I favour a .300 Winchester for Red and boar, but .308 or 30-06 should do the biz. What do you say pipple? Shotguns are allowed in this one. Ric (I only ask because I'd like to know) Quote Link to post
mattydski 560
I'm nearly there with mine......... I have: 22lr CZ Does the job.....No need to tinker 22H CZ (but about to start customising it) Just to make it special 243 Sauer 202 classic, Workhorse, but changing possibly to something a bit more of a keeper..May be a Sako laminate Stainless or a Custom job. After that?? Well I dont currently stalk reds or Sika, so I am happy with my current line up. If it came that I needed to take on larger animals in open country more frequently, then I may add a 30-06 or 7mm Rem mag to a line up, probably in summit functional like a Tikka Or Remington. Sold thePosh Berreta to pay for the Hornet, but would like to add Old 303 semi and a O/U to cabinet in the next couple of years. I just cant handle a posh shottie....People cringe when they see them thrown in the back of the landy.. Quote Link to post

It's a big step from planing to execution, and often a big surprise to many that their dream gun/calibre doesn't always deliver in the way they expected! What "may" look good on paper can often come up short when the real field tests start! ATB!! Quote Link to post

FightTheBan 1,147
What ive got just now! 15 year old .223 remi 700 with pecar scope. 10+ year old over and under baikal 12 bore Benelli m2 8 shot CZ .17. There all cheap and cheerfull and do the job very well. I would be afraid to take a 3 grand gun out the cabinet, so whats the point. A bad workman always blames his tools, and a good one makes do with what hes got FTB Quote Link to post
RicW 67
Fair comments all. I was thinking more in terms of experienced guys "If I'd known then what I know now." It's called picking people's minds! Ric Quote Link to post
