nicklpool 0
I've heard the theory that you should have an emergency recall, using say finger/wolf-whistle or a metal (acme thunderer) whistle, for emergencies. Works like this: once (and only once)each outing you emergency recall your hound by a different, noisier way than usual. You give them a mega-treat, so that if ever they start savaging the vicar or trying to leap off a cliff, etc., you've got the nuclear option. Any thoughts? What would be a good mega-treat? I use cheese and chopped liver as everyday treats. Thanks, Nick
kill um with crisps 7
A dog should react immedeately on ANY command mate, so if you blow the recall whistle normally it should have just the same effect. A dog doesnt have any concept of danger as such so wont understand that you only call him in this fashon if hese about to get killed etc. If you try teaching him roads are dangerous by having him watch you run over a fox youle see it wont stop him going in the road. Instant obedience is the name of the game and it only comes from persevering and persevering some more.
