my hw80 gun barrel is rusty and going silver all the black is coming off can anyone give me some advise what do do

i am thinking of spraying it crome or black what kind of paint would i need

 

also what the best paint to for gun stock they is some on wilkinson page

Forget the painted stock give it a rub down until bare wood then use some wood stain and then a few coats of linseed oil. Far better than paint IMHO

 

If you use your rifle for hunting, forget about the chrome paint as well. I have used a matt black and gloss black spray paint, but I would have much rather had it re-blued or Blacked again.

There are products that you can buy to do it properly, but I cant comment on them because I've not used them. If you must paint the metalwork, go for a matt black spray

For about £12.00 you can have the metal work powdercoated black ..ring around a few local powder coaters and see what they charge as its ten times better then spraying it..
