MagyarAgar 88
Back in the day,.... Farming and stock rearing folk in Oz,.spent a fecking long time in creating the Kelpie ( a fabulous sheep herder) and they also selectively bred several different breeds to produce the Cattle Dog,.so why on earth would anyone WASTE valuable time in hybridising these two,..totally separate and unique individual working types ???? They are both,.'Horses for Courses'..... Maybe to get a leaner acd without loosing the majority of the other faboulous traits? Cheers, Magyar Agar Quote Link to post

Neal 1,873
Even within the gene pool in the UK there's a huge variety in kelpie types. I've heard of some which are 24" yet one of mine is only just over 17". Likewise, one of mine is of the chunky variety whereas another looks like a whippet cross. There's also, perhaps more importantly. a big variety in temperament. Some are very work orientated and find it more difficult to switch off while others are far more easy going. Quote Link to post

Cheers Magyar Agar I think these breeds arent for beginers or those not willing to put the work in, they will be strong willed, may be stubborn but will offer good prey drive, good feet, solid conformation, strength and durability, not everyones cup of tea but suit me. Very dominant though. Me and my oppo have always thought that he'd be a great cross for a lurcher for the lads who like the Australian dogs but we've never done it and have no intention of doing it either. Great little dog. Very smart, very hard. Quote Link to post
