river ebro in spain

Recommended Posts

i was just wondering if any of you had ever fished for catfish on the river ebro in spain.

i have a holiday in spain coming up soon and am seriously thinking of doing a days fishing on the river ebro for a big catfish.

i would not be taking any fishing gear with me so am looking any info on hiring all the necessary gear out there for the days fishing and prices.

Me and mi dad went fishing for big cats 3 year ago with catmaster tours on the river ebro in spain, it was f**king hellish, we were fishing for the whole week at the start it was slow and not much doing but as the week went on the action hotted up, we went expecting to get massive cats everytime how ever that was proved wrong on the first three runs, they were all about the 30-40lb mark, still good fun tho. A couple of days to go before we were back on the easyjet flight home and in the burning sun we got a run leaning into the fish it was quite apparent it wasnt a 30lb'er, 15-20mins later i had the fish on the bank, in the weight sling and on the scales 95lb ov spanish catfish, i was over the moon. However that was that until the last day before we went home, me and my dad were taking turns at the runs we got so the next time was my dads turn, sat in the pitch black we heard beep, beep, beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep, me dad was off his seat lyk shit of a stick thinking this is going to be his last chance at a monster, omg iv never seen a fish fight so hard, me dad looked lyk it was pure savage amusement eventually he got the fish in the shallows and the guide jumped in grabbing its bottom jaw 'welcome to the 100lb club' he said. Me dads face just dropped and he just stood motionless for a few seconds before he realised the guide couldnt pull it out the water on his own so both ov us jumped in and hauled the monster onto the bank, without waisting any time we had it on the scales, our eyes were fixed on the dial wizing round to 174lb, we both just looked at each other and started laughing then came the obligatory handshake and hug. Now time for the photos to go and show everyone back at home, unfortunatly they on mi other comp so will have to go on that and put some pics up in a bit. But as for going to try and catch one of these giants i would deffinatley recommend it to any one, however you might need to go for more than one day.

it sounds like 1 hell of a trip.

but unfortunately i would be limited to the one day.

i had a look earlier at the website for the company you mentioned above they are really only seemed to be catering for the people staying with them and it is a little further than where i am looking now.

i did have a look at some of there pics on their gallery, some pretty amazing fish on there: http://www.catmastertours.com/index.html

i have been in contact with another website and have been quoted 80 euro for the lot. rods, reels, guide, pellets the lot for the day and it is closer to where i am staying. about an hours drive.

this is their site:

http://www.hacienda-angling.com/

i think i am gonna stick with them.
