Foxgun Tom 75
I've just taken in a 10 month neutered Sporting Lucas Terrier, The pup's parents are both working, any terrier I've owned/worked in the past, has always been intact, I personally can't see how him being neutered his gonna affect his working ability? does anyone have experience of working a neutered dog? I've taken him on because he's a fiesty, confident (stands his ground with other dog's)His previous owners got him neutered gave up on him because of dominance issues? He bullied and cajoled their other Lucas Terrier (their words) and to be honest they did'nt have a clue about the breed or terriers in general and had'nt a clue about basic training or discipline ( I think they just wanted a couple of nice looking book-end terriers to pose with). I want to bring him on and if he does'nt make the grade as a proficient working tyke my Mrs is willing to have him as the house dog, Positive side besides the neutering is that he's house trained great with kids and other people and can't dominate my other dogs (GSP's) because they tower way above him and their hierarchy is already fixed and they won't take shit of a pup!! Well what do you think lads should I invest time in him "nuetered or not?" I've worked bitche's in the past that have been spayed for medical reasons and it has'nt affected their working ability but they don't depend on testosterone? Tom Ps: the previous owners bought him in England for over £400 docked and microchipped I have all his paperwork, I just wish they'ed contacted me sooner before they took the decision to remove his bollock's Edited March 28, 2010 by Foxgun Tom Quote Link to post

Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Testosterone imo plays no part in the working ability and the lack of it may even be a bonus when bitches are nearing their time . Give him a go Tom and let us know . Edited March 29, 2010 by foxdropper Quote Link to post
