halamrose 24
Hi Chaps, If I buy another shotgun similar to my existing but with a stock which isn't broken, can I run two sets of barrels on the same lock to give me a choice of choke or are they matched for head space etc? Cheers, H Quote Link to post

Cheers, H They Should me matched, and age/wear is also a consideration. But in this day of mass production and computer engineering, you will probably find you will be ok. If it a an Escort then no problem at all, none of their barrels fit the action to start with so you will have a job making it worse! Quote Link to post

Hmm, Cheers, Deker, The old gun is a Baikal O/U, I only paid £50 for it but somehow I've become attached to it even if the stock isn't really. Where do you find used spares like stocks - does anyone sell them? H Quote Link to post
sage 0
Hi Chaps, If I buy another shotgun similar to my existing but with a stock which isn't broken, can I run two sets of barrels on the same lock to give me a choice of choke or are they matched for head space etc? Cheers, H Good evening. In your post you do not mention what model or make your gun is. If it is of a recent build most manufacturers use very accurate CNC machining with minimal hand fitting, makers such as Browning, Beretta and Miruko - the tolerances are very fine and in most cases with minimal work will interchange. The problems come with earlier guns, the only hope is that the new barrels are of slightly larger dimensions than the old, stating the obvious, metal is easy to remove, far more difficult to replace. Have you considered changing stocks? If I can be of any further help please do not hesitate to come back and I will do a little research for you. Regards Sage Quote Link to post

halamrose 24
Thanks Guys, I've tried gluing up the old stock so we will see how it fairs, I realy aught to buy a gun for more than £50 but it would be a shame just to scrap the old one, only the broken stock lets it down. Where do old shotguns go to die? Halam Quote Link to post
