i bet your mate wouldent be so angry if you took it to the rspca, causing a wild bird a lot of stress and even more suffering, where they tell you there is nothing they can do and they uthanised it. this is what happnd to a black bird with a broken wing in my garden a few months ago.

I think you need to re think your ideas, are you a trained vet that can identify a broken wing just by looking, as already stated, how does a bird with broken wing get up a tree, also, even if it had, you could then easily catch it, and take it to a vet, what gives you the right to shoot it, this sort of action is what gives the anti's a way to get hunting banned, or licences for air rifles, although in your case this wouldent be a bad thing

 

as for your mate, inform the police, show them the "picture" see what they say, they may knock and have a word with his parents

why did you not attempt to capture the bird to nurse back to health???? Did this myself a few times as a lad I wouldn't of shot it unless I'd had it in my hands and knew it was the right course. But hey shoulda woulda coulda.

 

As for the ex friend give him a good hiding and tell him that's what he's going to get every time you see him until the snares are returned

I cant understand that if you were friends before all this he must of known that you were into hunting and shooting before you both went off camping together as for the snares let your parents know and let them go get them back .

Most of today's young people have problems of one sort or another. I would only wish that a youngster of mine had a problem like this. This is just a life lesson about who you can trust to go out hunting , trapping , snaring.

 

So many of the young people today are in trouble with the law due to drugs , stealing , gangs - this lad is doing well! To bad about your snares - don't stay pissed over it and let it ruin your fun - much worse could happen.

hi all. here goes, i know its a bit pathetic but someone i used to be mates with has turned anti and is being a proper nasty c**t. We went camping a few weeks ago and thats how he turned anti. there was a coletit in an apple tree with a broken wing so i shot it, he got very very angry and walked about 3 miles to start walking home, realised he left all ghis stuff and stayed for the rest of the day and another night. In the morning i went to check the snares i had out around the permish and when i came back he started going mental about me being a c**t killing innocent animals. When we packed up i realised i had lost about 40 brass snares

 

At school last week the c**t had that front to come up to me and show me a pic of all MY snares in his bedroom

 

now i am getting extremely pissed off as he is teling everyone that i kill innocent animals and that i shot an illegal bird

 

As you can imagine i am more pissed off about my snares as thats about 30 quids worth of snares he has nicked. Any ideas on how to get them back? because at this rate its gunna be a case of into his house(his mum will let me in) , grab the snares and job done

he he this could be a good laugh actually as it's illegal to release a gray squirel and other non-indigenous species once they've been caught. We could have a week where everyone delivers as many captured grays to the rspca so it is them that have to dispose of thousands of perfectly healthy animals. :laugh:

a blackbird is also a protected species,

a rabbit however is classed as a pest

a quailified person, can put to sleep and injured animal/bird, that otherwise may not survive in the wild

a non quailified person, cannot take on that responsability
