Their factory is more secure than Belmarsh, my missus is a recruitment consultant in the town employed by them and cannot even get on site. I would like to know what it is they are putting in the stuff and whether anyone can tell me exactly what is in the complete food they feed their dog? In the words of swampy completefood bait ning! sandymere 8,263
Hurlock don’t worry your not pissing on anyone’s parade, come on in waters lovely lol. The post was to highlight the high incidence of bacterial contamination in raw pet quality food and the possible risks this poses to people, especially those with reduced immune status such as young children. It was designed to make this information better known so that owners could make a more informed choice. Judging by your post it has worked, “Think i’ll risk the e coli threat from chickhen by washing my hands as opposed to slowly poisoning my dog!†(hurlock 2010) you are making an informed choice, well sort of lol. The chicken your feeding, especially if pet quality, is likely to contain lots of bacteria along with antibiotic residue, amongst other drugs, that may well too have a negative effect but it’s a matter of individual choice. The road kill stuff is a wild goose chase, how many people does your wife send for road kill gathering posts at the factory, there was a butcher our way that got caught selling pet quality meat in his shop but I still use butchers, there will always be the odd bad penny in any industry but should we paint them all with the same brush of cause not. The completes keep getting dragged in but hey ho here we go again! Blue diamond, it’s a lovely site, load of cods wallop from hippy land and I’ll certainly ignore the wondrous cures they promote but a lovely site lol. Now what did you think went into pet food? Rump steak? Are we to expect a little lamb to gamble out of every bag, a chicken to be heard cackling away inside? No we get the left over’s, whether it be ex battery hens or reclaimed carcass residue and in the raw state this is likely carry a heavy bacterial load. That’s why it’s cooked and dried as this will destroy current bacteria and result in an environment in which new bacteria will be less able to flourish, see paper above. If you lot must keep dragging this of subject at least post some interesting stuff. The question you should be asking is, do the completes supply the proteins, fats and carbohydrates in an acceptable form for a dogs digestive capabilities and in appropriate amounts. Now that would be an interesting post. Please try harder Regards sandymere.
Hurlock 114
Try "The Field" magazine then pal. Sorry it wasn't what you wanted to hear. You never answered my question though. What EXACTLY is in the complete food you feed your dog? Sort of trick question there I know as you or anyone else on this site can't tell me. What about the nice colours which make the little biscuits look so inviting I bet they're necessary for a balanced diet aren't they................ I don't feed minced chicken; I feed meaty bones, offal, heart, kidney, rabbit, etc not that i'd have any problem doing so.
sandymere 8,263
Why is the field magazine a good diet? The complete I feed has a mixture of carbs, fat and protein along with some preservatives, vitamins etc and colours, why what did you think was in it? It's not perfect but does well as a basic to which I add what I feel is appropriate. I rarely talk brands as I don't want to push one above another, using a mixture of two at the mo. Please try and make a point, ie do you disagree that pet quality meat will carry a high bacterial load? regards sandymere
Hurlock 114
My point is very simple mate. I think complete food is utter shit full of things that dogs shouldn't be eating. I suppose you like kentucky fried chicken, maccy D's and microwave meals though so i'm probably wasting my breath. So you keep feeding whay you feed and i'll do the same, but why put scaremongering tripe (dogs can eat that) about minced chicken and then accuse me of doing the same when I put stuff up about complete foods. Do you work for Eukanuba?
sandymere 8,263
Lordy "I think complete food is utter shit full of things that dogs shouldn't be eating." (Hurlock) We all entitled to our own opinion and a forum is a good place to discuss said opinion but that means that others with differing opinions will also post. So I don’t feel that completes are any worse than any other commercial dog food as all are inherently problematic in being, in the main, sourced from dubious sources. Perhaps it’s losing sight of the ball that’s the problem to demonstrate I’ll tell a little story……….Many, many years ago I was a young bricky and had to build a nice decorative fireplace for a very middle class lady. She wanted something “rustic†and so decides on some reclaimed bricks, Suffolk reds, with a couple of courses of darker bricks to add contrast. Her husband had got a load of old reds that had been reclaimed from a walled garden somewhere so I only had to source a few blues. I found some reclaimed from the wall of a public convenience and silly me let her know where they had come from. She refused to have them due to their source which was silly as they were quality bricks, in good condition and perfect for the job. Now food is a similer point, the idea of feeding whole chicken etc is important for the owners sensitivities but holds very little relevance to a dogs digestive system. All the digestive systems wants is the correct nutrients in the correct amounts in a digestible form i.e. amino acids are building blocks of protein and a dogs stomach doesn’t care if they originally came from a chickens feet or its breast just as long as they are there. "I suppose you like kentucky fried chicken, maccy D's and microwave meals though so i'm probably wasting my breath". (Hurlock) An old wizend fella like me knows nowt of these modern foods! "So you keep feeding whay you feed and i'll do the same, but why put scaremongering tripe (dogs can eat that) about minced chicken and then accuse me of doing the same when I put stuff up about complete foods".(Hurlock) Please read the bit of my post about quoting me rather than making stuff up to suit your own ends, ie where do I say dogs can’t eat minced chicken? "Do you work for Eukanuba?" (Hurlock) Lolololol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please give us a little evidence to refute my claims and I would be happy to recant.
