whippet greyhound or collie greyhound?

heyy guys im thinking of buying a new dog, and the new places i lamp have huge fields and i was just wondering what would be the best breed for coursing the bunnies and maybe even the long ears? would it be a collie greyhound or whippet greyhound?

if there is a better breed of lurcher for this work then could you let me know?

if its big land your running your dog on id say saluki collie gray a good all round dog :thumbs:

ive got whip/grey from cracking lines,by the sound of it you may be better with the natural stamina of the collie,unless you av time to work on that with a whipxgrey,whipxgrey can be prone to injury so its always an idea to walk the ground before you go,mind you beat this cross for raw speed,good luck :thumbs:

That's an honest post from someone who owns a whippet xgreyhound :clapper:

I've not seen one run for a while but for sheer elegant almost artistic coursing combined with manic single mindedness to bring down their bunny or hare the ones I saw were very exciting to watch . Probably a bit of a specialist enthusiasts breed rather than an everyday lurcher though.

they sure are got to take your time with this type,but on the right ground they dont miss much,seat of yer pants stuff,as i say its good to be cautious,a very steady breed easy to keep.

Just get a well bred lurcher to lurcher bred pup out of genuine working parents and with a lot of luck it should be just wat you want.Dont listen to the rubbish that saluki hybreds are no good for lamping because nothing could be further from the truththumbs.gif

I know nothin about this but I have a buddy that I really trust and he says the same thing you just said. Said they are handy as could be.

i would hav the whippet greyhound ive never seen 1 run but i reckon they would be fast as f**k and would hammer hares in little fields but they might hav a bit trouble in a big field but i bet if ya get a good sized 1 thats about 23'' 24'' tts it will take hares in big fields deffeanlty atbb Top Lamper

It still amazes me some what when a mate bred his 7 year old proven collie lurcher to an outstanding courseing dog with merlin & eve in its bloodline that he struggeld to find home for excess pups as the saluki in them put some people offdoh.gif
