Stamina bull/greyhound vs collie greyhound

Recommended Posts

Never worked a bull/greyhound or seen one work, but i know they're highly regarded by many on this site. I have always worked collie greyhounds or whippets. I was curious if bull/greyhounds have the edge over collie greyhounds when it comes to stamina, or maybe the bullgreyhound/colliegreyhound......what you think?

here we go again, there both good dogs in there own right ,ive seen some good dogs go all night in both crosses and seen some poor ones perform in both crosses every one says the bull cross is to heavy ive seen some real heavy cloddy 1st cross collie greyhounds to, remember when folk comment there is different ways bred in each cross 3/4 cross ,1st cross, lurcher to lurcher cross ie 2nd gen or 5/8s 3/8ths etc it also depends what your running the dogs on what effort the owner has put in to make sure there dogs are fit etc ,i really do think when it comes to stamina between to the 2 i think you will find a collie cross will quit 1st because the bull blood in the bull cross will keep it going even when its body wants to stop, where as a collie cross will simply pull up and say ive had enough because they tend to be brighter it does not always come to stamina it can sometimes come to how game and keen your dog is i am not saying this is written law am sure plenty folk have seen a bull cross quit and we will hear stories of how they have but ill put my bottom dollar on it they were unfit or poorly kept

p.s. i run neither cross so that was a toataly unbiased opinion i run wheaten/grey

yes of course and i never said you were biased i just guessed you had a grey x collie the same as when some one jumps on to defend a bull cross i presume they have a bull cross ,i have neither cross and i am just saying what i have seen,i have people i know who are fans of collies cross dogs and i have people i know are fans of bull cross dogs, so i have seen both crosses work many times i have owned both crosses myself i like both crosses a great deal, my opinion is mine and mine alone from what i have seen i am not influenced from owning either cross as i dont, its simply from what i have seen chap, i have not sat here and slated either cross or said one cross is better than the other i simply said from what i have seen a bull crosses gameness has took it that bit further than the collie cross dogs ive seen that have pulled up and gave it a stuff that i know i am bolloxed

you can be as game as you like if you blow out you blow out end of!! whats the point in chasing a rabbit if you havent got the legs to get to it!!

thats true, the stamina from bull is there for pit fighting, different fitness to running fitness which collie blood is more suited to due to their fieldwork
