collie/grey 238
Anyone have any tips on how to stop a dogs quick bleeding? I get them to stop bleeding and as soon as the dog moves it starts again!
witton 6
I just leave it for the dog to lick, but iv hered you can push a bar of soap against the nail or dip the nail in corn flour

witton 6
ID SAY DONT CUT THE QUICK IN THE FIRST PLACE Its not allways that simple when uv got a dog kicking, twisting and turning trying to pull away from you, catching the quick is easy done.
collie/grey 238
I don't cut the quick intentionally, just the odd one on a black nail or when the dog moves! Not tried the soap thing. Will give vaselina ago as i have wound powder but that doesn't work. Thaks for the good suggestions.

mole catcher 1
Ive used permanganate/potash (not sure of the spelling as the lable has washed off) for this, works great as it cortarised the wound. it was once used in tail docking, not sure about now try your chemist. collie/grey 238
Well i was clipping one of my friends dogs nails last night, everyone of em black, i thought i had managed to do all without touching a quick, but i was wrong, i done a front claw. I grabbed the bar of soap from bathroom and stuck the claw in it, stopped bleeding straigt away.

collie/grey 238
With the number of quicks you are cutting I'd get a friend to do it.................... I don't ALWAYS cut the quick, my first post was just something i wanted to know what everyone else did, it was just a coincidence that i had a dogs nails to do and they were ALL black, i hardly cut a bit of nail off, the dog had to be pinned, he usually goes to the vet and i managed quite well, only doing 1 out of 18.
