Dan Edwards 1,134
I hear ya. To hear some of these boys over here on this side of the pond talk, you'd think we had dogs ascended straight from heaven. I can assure you that this is not the case but yall are more than welcome to believe their shit if you want to but take it from me, they full of it. HAHA! if you think its bad on here mate you should come to my local terrier an lurcher show an here them in the beer tent its blood boiling! i know its only words but i am not a pretender if he was no good i wouldve moved him on as i have done in the past with other lurchers if you buy a ticket over here an il take you out an if your not impressed il pay for the ticket lol i think over here it matters what x you choose theres only one for me tried wheaton but wasnt a patch on a good bullx!do you keep lurchers dan? Kye 77
Being from England, i used to think like many of you guys,..."Only breed from tried and tested dogs"...blah, blah f*****g blah!..lol. I will say this!...having worked dogs on BOTH sides of the ponds, i think that as a whole, the terriers over here are not as good as back home. Having said that, i have seen and currently own yank bred dogs that i would take back and dig infront of anyone. The sighthounds over here are much better!...these lads run there dogs on ground that would KILL collie bred lurchers!...frozen plough, rock, scree, stuff i would have NEVER think a dog capable of running on, let alone taking game!...the game over here, is faster, stronger, and rougher, and the lads can/do/will cull dogs much harder. Ive been out a few times with Dan, and i would call him a friend, but as i have told him to his face many a time..."Dan, your a twat!..you run them dogs to much, to hard, to often!"....hes binned dogs, that lads back home would pay BIG money for!...im not blowing smoke up his arse, its just fact. That bullx is a very nice example of the cross, and im sure he is mustard at what you use him for. If you ran him over here, on this ground, on this game, in this weather, i put money on it not making it more than two times out of the truck. The dogs over here however, if ran/raised buy a man that knows these Staghounds, back home, they would do very well!...even better than UK bred dogs i feel...maybe not as ferreting dogs, but every other game available!.. Just my opinion lads, nothing more nothing less. Kye.. 1 Quote Link to post
whin 463
i to have saw and run with many dog men over there and am prety expierenced with it , there are some good dogs over there thats for sure and they have the land and laws to test them ,thtas the only diffrence at times , saw some good staghounds and some very good hare dogs in america but saw alot of ones like back home were rubbish and not worth feeding, ive had americans ovr here hunting with me and afew freinds they rated our dogs very well ,for hares and all round lurcher work ,in the uk ,a few are over there now d platts has sent afew over as have other guys TO THE states ,the ground they run on is rough so feet is a paradox, but agood lurcher should have feet ,to me the dogs over there have been bred from SCOTTISH DEERHOUNDS MANY YEARS AGO AND BRED WORKER TO WORKER, ONLY WAY , INN BRITAIN THERE ARE NO LEGAL TESTS FOR BIG DOGS REALY , I THINK IN THE JACK RABBIT SCENe WE ARE AHEAD ON HOW WE RUN COMPETITIONS WANT DOGS TO CATCH ,CONDITION THEM BETTER ETC , BUT WE HAVE NO COYOTES OR PRAIRIE SO ALL wE HAVE IS A FOX TO TEST OUR DOGS PRE BAN ,diffrent dogs for diffrent jobs ,as they say at times Quote Link to post

Kye.. totally agree with you mate different terrain different quarry different distance coursed etc for me a stag hound isnt for me pre ban or at present time i think they need to much ground to catch big cumbersome no acceleration maybe there different in usa i dont know so cant comment on the stamp of dog there i would never swap my type of dog bullx is the best lurcher avvailible at present and pre ban def with the terrain small fields etc these work best for me,i would love to bring him over and see how he fairs over there just out of curriosity atb thanks for your comments Quote Link to post
