Trigger 26 Posted March 25, 2010 Report Share Posted March 25, 2010 (edited) has anyone noticed the amount of otters that are about these days or is just me, i was on my way home from a nights lamping last night when i discovered a otter that had been run over. the thing is it was miles away from any river or pool could anyone suggest what she was doing there as i dont know much about them i was amazed she had travelled so far from water. I dont know where you are but here we have had flat out heavy rain for the past week or so, and the local rivers and streams and ponds have swelled right up, Maybe she left the water the same way as mink do to hunt inland, Alough otters are alot more water bourne than mink and its more common for mink to do this. mouse 282 Posted March 25, 2010 Report Share Posted March 25, 2010 more otters about than people think.have got them on all the rivers by us.we have to be careful when out with the minkhounds .otters will travel a long distance across open land often just travelling up ditches to get new territory or when mating time .
