mickteesside 1
hi mate there a few different types of gosses but your looking at starting price of about 900 and over for a female gos i would say the lad is better off trying to find someone near him who can take him out with a gos to see if its for him or not Quote Link to post

trappa 518
THAT SOUNDS LIKE WAT HE WANTS TO DO LIKE MATE...GOT TO BE SOMEONE IN NORTHEAST WILLIN TO SHOW HIM ALL ABOUT GOSHAWKS... SO IS THEIR ANYONE IN NORTHEAST THAT COULD HELP ME MATE OUT WITH GOSHAWKS BEFORE HE GOES AND BUYS ONE ??????? There are plenty gosses flown in the north east but he wants to be ready really before he gets it. A gos is A LOT different to a harris. When i went from harris to gos i found that falconry quite simply wasnt as fun , it was more of a challenge than anything. My first gos was a p/r german male and even though i enjoyed him it was hard work. I didnt mind the hard work but i just like to stress to anyone thinking of getting a gos its a different world. If your catching rabbits and having fun with a harris, you need to really think why you want to change for a gos, too many get one just because of the kudos of flying a gos, no other reason. And once flying one, the vast majority wish they hadnt bothered! For every gos flown well, there are 50 that are locked in an aviary, never seeing the field. Quote Link to post

josh-waddingham 13
i thinks its brill that he fancies the step up to the mighty gos but if he doesnt yet know of the various species of goshawks about then i dont think he should yet be looking to buy one, iv been studying the gos for 3 years now, and been out with plenty i flown a male finish p/r bird last season and got on fine but they are one hell of a step up from the harris. what is the reason he wants a goshawk ? e.g is it because he fancies a change? wants to kill more? genuinly likes the gos? etc etc. there are many questions to ask yourself before aquiring a goshawk, does he have enough permition and time to hunt the goshawk on as they are not like harris where you can take them out at weekends and get a couple of rabbits, goshawks thrive to kill and there only aim is to go out and catch something, if you cant fly them regulary (however you spell it?) then you are wasting you time as it will be a horrible and miserable experiance flyint the goshawk if they are built with stress and anger, however if you get it right and hunt the bird alot it will be the best experiance you have ever whitnessed, tell your freind to give me a ring ill pm you my number atb josh Quote Link to post
