Anyone own an Ultra or Scorpion

Recommended Posts

I'll be buying a new gun soon and think i've narrowed my choice down to these two. Think i will have about £325 to spend, this is for gun only as i have the rest of the kit. So if im buying new it will prob be a single shot.

Can anyone who has or used these guns please tell me what they think of them, and what one they thinks better?

Cheers,

John

i owned a ultra multi for a short time i personally didnt get on with it at all it was too small for me i prefer a bigger barrel although the gun itself was a lovely bit of kit worked a treat i just wasnt keen on the feel and it only did about 40 on a fill too which was a bit annoying as i did get carried away with it being a multi plinking stuff while i was out! they are a good gun though just head down a gunshop that stocks them to have a feel and see what you reckon

There's a gunshop in Licoln (City Airweapons Ltd) selling the Ultra multishot at £353. Bit far for you to travel but they had an advert in March issue of Airgun World if you took a copy along to your local dealer it might help give you a bit of bargaining power.

Hope that might help. Let us kno how you get on

Hi mate,

I haven’t owned one myself but a very good friend of mine and a regular on this section (Reggaeman) (Chris is his real name) has owned one before.

I have shot his gun and been hunting with him many times in the past and I can say that the BSA Ultra is a very good rifle mate bordering on a Super gun for its price.

The accuracy on the .177 version I shot was as good as any PCP I’ve shot in the past, and I was able to do everything that my HW100KT and R10 could achieve just as easily as with my more expensive rifles.

I have witnessed Reggaeman produce 1 hole groups at a lased 30 metres with it and shoot vermin humanely at great distances beyond what most hunters would not dare to try.

Chris is a remarkable shot though so please don’t take it for read that anyone can shoot it like he did. Unless you are a really able shot I would stick to 25 to 30 metres until you are more confident mate.

He used the single shot version of the rifle and after a bit or practice he was able to reload the rifle very quickly.

A single fill in .177 calibre was giving him around 30 shots at full power.

I am a .22 calibre hunter myself mate and don’t really tamper too much with a .177, but I have also heard that the .22 version of the Ultra is very accurate too and a real vermin stopper.

I hope this helps mate.

Thanks for the replies lads. Think im swaying towards the Ultra, maybe see if i can pick up a multi shot 2nd hand withing my range but who knows.

I have a lightning 22 justnow which ive had for a year, wouldnt be trying to shoot anywhere past 30 yards justnow. Ive got a good sized garden so shooting targets and getting used to the gun before i use it on live quarry will be easy enough for me to do.

Cheers,

John
