Malt 379
Yep, one of the best foods you can give a ferret IMO, a complete little meal. Quote Link to post

stubby 175
give them to mine all the time, but I'll add, they were caught and killed in break back traps, giving/feeding live caught mice is illegal Quote Link to post

Malt 379
Slightly off topic, but.. We were on our way back across a field from ferreting a few weeks back, and we saw a black and white cat stalking the hedgerow at the far end of the field in front of us. The cat pounced on something in the hedge, played with it for a bit then picked it up in it's mouth and continued along the path by the side of the hedge. There it was, marching along head held high, tail twitching from side to side almost seemed to be swaggering with pride at it's kill, oblivious to everything apart from the freshly caught prey in it's mouth. Unknown to this cat, our two terriers and my beddy/whippet had spotted it, as they were off the lead having a play in the field on the way back, and were heading towards it at breakneck speed. I knew it was too far away for them to catch, so just carried on walking and left them to it. The cat spotted them when they were about 100 yds from it, and just froze in it's tracks! The prey dropped from it's mouth, and for a split second the cat just stood there wide eyed, either in shock or weighing up it's options! It ran though the fence to safety with time to spare, and I called the dogs back and found a little vole licking it's last on the spot where the cat was halted in it's tracks. I picked the vole up and offered it up to the hole on the side of my bow backed ferret box... It was one of the funniest sights I've ever seen, the vole disappeared almost instantly, in the same sort of manner as the alien/human hybrid did at the end of 'Alien Resurrection,' when it gets sucked out into space though a tiny hole in the spaceship! By the time I got home there was no trace left of the vole at all in the box! kill um with crisps 7
Iv fed mice to my ferrets loads of times. They need quite a few to make up a days feed but every little helps as tesco says! Lol!! If you live catch them legally they have to be killed before giving them to the ferrets but if caught in a kill trap you only have to chuck um in the cage. Iv never fed my ferrets on rats but i hear they just leave the tail. Quote Link to post
