Why do some dogs eat there own excrement?

 

Is there any way to stop the dog doing this.

it could be a sign that something is missing from its diet,what are you feeding it mate,maybe its shite taste better than its food

Yes, it usually means they are lacking something in the diet, Pinapple works as it makes the shite taste rank (even more rank lol) but that isnt solving the problem as to WHY they are doing it!

 

Try feeding charcoal biscuits, 1 or 2 a day, seems to work, give it a week, if it doesnt work, try the pinapple

try some greens in diet mine have gabbage i cook it slightly then chop up fine and mix with food or cook a load then blitz it in a blender with some stock, you can freeze in blocks and use when needed

I thought you were taking the pee when you said pineapple chunks.Nearly asked if rings would do as i have some of them in the cupboard.

a friend of mine has to alsations one of then is 2 years old and the other one is about 9 months old both dogs where eating there owm and each others excrement even when they where fed pineapple, ive since drontal plus both dogs and they have both stopped eating each others and every thing elses excrement.

we had a dog that done that years ago vet told us it was zinc deficiency bought zinc tablets whithin two days it had stopped it.
