dave1372 83
Headed down to one of the farms last night where the farmer has not had anyone doing his foxes for a while so there are plenty going about and given that they have started lambing he needs the foxes thinned out as much a s possible. We arrived just after 9pm and headed out on foot to one of the fields to put some bait out. As we got to the field we were going to bait my mate scanned the field using the NV and spotted a fox already in the field a couple of hundred yards out. He started to call it in, it was very hesitant at first but gradually curiosity was getting to it and it started to get closer. At about 150 yards Jamie took the shot which shredded it! It was a decent sized dog fox. After that we had no luck for an hour so we moved off to a different part of the farm which has some great hilly terrain (if you can be arsed to walk it lol!). We reached a small valley which acts as a boundary between fields and has a stream at the bottom, we decided we would sit tight for a while and then check around with the NV. After ten minutes we spotted on the other side a fox having a good mooch about on the hill. By this time It had just started to rain/drizzle which was really annoying as I had to keep wiping the lens on the NV. After five minutes of trying to faff about wiping the lens whilst trying to get a decent aim to get a decent shot I managed to get a shot. The only down side was that it took us twenty minutes to back track around the valley to get to it. It was another dog fox. Can't wait to get back out on Thursday! Quote Link to post
