From a personal point of view I have no objection to scottish independence (with a couple of caviats.......is that a contradiction?!).However I don't see that as an independant state scotland could sustain itself without massive subsidies from your "host nation"! rgds Swampy Bordering on treasonable behaviour ning Edited March 24, 2010 by Swampy

Swampy 147
Possibly. But it wouldn't be enough! The oil companies have already signed up to contracts changing them wouldn't be too much of an issue although I suspect that scotlands bargaining power wouldn't be as strong. Either way you cannot poosibly base your whole economy on oil forever. Look at what has happened in the middle east. It is their only source of income and the cracks are starting to show. Attack Fell Terrier 864
I haven't really got a strong opinion on it to be honest, never really gave it much thought. I suppose it was a bad day for the English when such a great woman and their queen died, and a Scottish homosexual became their king lol. Sorry to be of absolutely no use to you here Swamps lol. RicW 67
In fact, most of the oil comes in through Shetland. You call a Shetlander a Scot at risk of your front teeth. They threatened to secede from Scotland and declare independence a while back. They consider themselves Vikings. Ric
