moonlighter 1,164 Posted March 23, 2010 Report Share Posted March 23, 2010 whilst walking the dogs this morning i stumbled upon a munty buck standing in a neighbours garden, probally only 50 yards away from me. he was barking repetidly for about 2 minutes and its the first time ive ever seen them do this.. has any other viewers seen this and is it a mating call? monynut 2 Posted March 23, 2010 Report Share Posted March 23, 2010 It is common to hear them bark another name for them is "Barking deer" they generally bark when alarmed or suspicious about something, they will also bark over territorial disputes l have never come across them barking as a part of any mating or courtship ritual other than maybe when there is more than 1 buck interested in a doe in season Quote Link to post
artic 595 Posted March 24, 2010 Report Share Posted March 24, 2010 Hear them most nights, sometimes 5-10 minutes non stop. The noise differs as they turn and face another way. The buggers seem to know when to stop just before the trigger is squeezed or getting into range for a shot. Quote Link to post
